Ge-, pronounced "gay", is a past tense affix in German akin to English -ed, but thanks to my prof's phrasing I process everything as gay[verb]; I had gay eaten, I was gay gone, etc.

i don't wanna argue but i might have to fight your prof, because that is not at all how it's pronounced. The e in the ge- is a middle-length to short (depends on dialect) flat one, like the 'eh' sound you'd say when you say 'eh, you know.' Like the first e in 'rennaisance'. Do you want actual soundfiles because i'm native german and speak (pretty much) without dialect.

@IvyLB I think the problem is dialect, then, because prof is also a native (Northern, I think?) German speaker. Or, also entirely possibly, I messed up.

But I'm from Berlin and dialect si weird to me I can't even really speak my home dialect :P
