It's called 'osterlaib' in german and is basically a breadloaf sized milk bread, with rum currants mixed in, a sugar glaze and chopped nuts on top (often hazelnut or pistacchios). Made with yeast,so really fluffy and airy. Also sometimes braided, then know as Osterzopf ('easter braid')
@Acey @sirsparklepants Spoiler: easter bread recipe needs: 380g flour 1 egg 1tbs oil 2tbs soft butter pinch of salt dash of vanilla extract 1 package of vanilla sugar (or one tbs more sugar and extra vanilla extract) 160ml warm milk 5tbs sugar half a cube of fresh yeast about 80g of rum raisins, more if desired handful of chopped nuts additonal egg and tbs of milk for brushing do: mix your flour, egg, oil, butter, salt, and vanilla-sugar (or vanilla extract) in one bowl in second bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast and let it sit for five minutes to see if the yeast's alive (should go a little foamy if so) make a little pool in your flour mixture and slowly pour the yeast-milk in there. knead it together (dough hook attachments on mixer recommended if hand-kneading not possible/desired). Once all kneaded to one soft dough, add in your raisins and give it another knead until raisins are more or less evenly scattered throughout. lightly (just enough not to stick to things) flour dough and form into a ball. put ball back into bowl cover bowl with a damp towel and let rise in a warm spot for ~40 minutes. poke down and either transfer into a round bread mold, or just place on your baking sheet and free bake it if you're feeling brave let dough rise again for another 30 minutes while you preheat your oven to 180°C. once risen again, brush your dough with the additional egg beaten with milk, scatter over your chopped nuts and pop it into the middle of the oven for ~30 minutes. Inserted skewer should come out clean so if necessary give your bread five more minutes until skewer comes out clean. remove bread from oven and let cool completely before cutting. Bread is gonna be very air and soft, so cutting it warm is likely to tear it to bits and there you go. the whole thing should be somewhat like a brioche, in consistency and also vaguely in taste.

Ok time to write down some world building else i'll forget: Magic of the more permanent kind can be inscribed into metal or stones, but not every type of magic takes to every metal. The classing currently goes like this Necromancy/blood magic: iron Fae magic: gold/silber (officially seelie use gold, unseelie use silver but that's mostly tradition) Other human magic: copper, Bronze Extra-planar anything: either something from that plane or meteorite Material For elemental magic, you'd use a stone that has 'history' with the element. So: Water: limestone Earth: clay Fire: volcanic stone like Basalt Air: can't be inscribed into stone, only woven into fabric, ideally silk
More world building Details Spoiler: magic stuff Vanilka humans can do a limited amount of magic, but they have to work a lot harder for it, because they can't access the magic 'field' around them so they gotta power it all from inside which makes it pretty exgausting! But, a list of things possible for any human to learn if they put the work in: -center/ground/shield. Usually taught as a unit, allows to deflect spells and protect the mind. Only takes concentration. It's also common as a meditative/relaxing thing so a lot of people in the setting can do this without being aware that technically, it's magic. Without a more physical object to help along, only blocks weak/untargetted things. Usually also the first thing taught to mages to stop them leaking all over creation - circle casting. Needs a physical compinent, like a chalk drawn circle, projects a 'barrier' against spells and incorporal entities. Basically Shield 2.0. needs more focus and energy but protects better. Mages can do this with minimal physical compobent, for example matt can just visualize a decent one up on the fly, or draw a line in the dust. Technically doesn't have to be a circle but they're most energy efficient. -luck magic. Usually little things like how a die lands or a coin flips. Can be done by focus alone. Larger stuff needs larger Ritual Setups and more focus as well as objects that can be bound to it - simple glamour. Like really simple. Needs a Ritual setup of some kind, and virtually always a physical component like a piece of jewelry. Effects common are stuff like 'don't let me get noticed' or 'let me look appealing'. The effects on the onlooker can be broken easily. A 'don't notice me' cast this way doesn't hold up to physical contact, speaking to someone, or actively looking for them UNLESS targetted to one Person And then it needs a part of the targetted Person (hair, drop of blood) to work, and can still fail -minor ward. Protective spell permanently imbued in an object. Needs a Ritual setup to cast, needs to be maintained to stay active, and can usually only be cast on things/places the caster has an emotional connection to. Often used to protect homes against spells, ghosts or just 'bad vibes'. - minor enchantment. Aside from the above mentioned stuff, if someone is really determined and has access to the right spells/Materials (herbs, inks, crystals etc) other effects can be tied to objects - like making your cellphone less likely to lose signal - but requires a sigil drawn on the object and is super exhausting to set up. Also requires regular maintenance So that's basically the things non-mages can learn, but it's usually a lot more effort than it's worth. That said, @artistformerlyknownasdave since Dave has like his collection of crystals he might by complete accident have stuff that's helpful to him.

also, speaking of mass effect: I really like how the game rewards you for the paragon option because I'm a gremlin who is bad at being mean to pixel people but also: being nice to people getting rewarded in a game where you also get to shoot a lot of idiots feels good. like, violence is answer, but it's a situational one and not the answer for everything and that feels very nice Esp cause a lot of the knockon effects are like coming in long term, a game later.
as someone who stans renegade shepard as a maybe somewhat hamfisted depiction of ptsd riddled individual having to resort to just about the worst method ever always in the face of a council that would like to put them on a leash like a pretty little project, have you considered that straight up punching someone through a window is reward enough :P (i wish you could go full renegade without all the uhhhhhh racism and xenophobia....)
