hoooome. car was a bit weird to drive, gon ask dad to drive us to the train station tomorrow so that he can test it out, but it might just have been from standing around?
One of the nice things if being back home is that if i wake up in the middle of the night, dehydrated as fuck, i can just hit the faucet and gulp down water like a camel
My dentist gave me extra fluoride toothpaste that I’m supposed to use at night before bed and not rinse so it can benefit my teeth as it slowly dissipates overnight. It seemed reasonable at the time because I was a fool. I get so thirsty at night.
transformer's au rp i'm having just got Overlord and I'm like 'empties out the entire gore box' it's disturbing but also fun because sometimes you just Gotta Write An Excessive Violence
so apparently i was being a big dumbass about that infected ear percing? I had a silver earring in it a while beause hey. silver is anti-bacterial, but inflammation didn't go down. decided to go 'fuck it if it heals over then so be it' and took the earring out and within 24h the piercing's completely fine and NOT healed over. All that discomfort for nothing, i swear to fuck
Stuck in an increasingly hot train in the middle of nowhere about to Miss my next train because 'people on the tracks' like goddamn
How can it possibly be that three of these trainsic've been in today have been running late? Though i guess if i miss my last i can camp in the mcd and have like, lunch
get your fucking shiiiiiiit together DB also I can tell you why, it's summer the AC is broken because someone can't be fucking assed to do maintenance on their damn vehicles and now we all have to die for their sins
Me: hey i wonder why i felt progessively more shitty last week, unmotivated and kinda overloaded and all that Me, rn, back at my place, going through my evening routine and seeing the package of antidepressants i left there for a whole week: OH
I’ve sometimes gotten to like, Thursday, looked at my morning pills from my pill holder, and had a terrible realization. It’s also a relief though.
Lush bomb of the day: goldrush Ohhh boy this is a good one. Bit on the small side for a bathbomb but doesn't need to be bigger. Smells like Rosemary and citrus, so excellent summer scent Bathwater goes a lovely turquoise and the little oilmelt on top is a nice touch (leggy so smooth....). This things is so sparkly, my dudes. Like, there's some glitter in the blue already, but asit disintegrates, you get a core of basically solid gold glitter. I am bedazzled and not in a bad way. It's not Star Bright levels of 'become one with the sparkles' but it's only like 2 steps away from it Might make this one a summer regular tbh.
Thoughts on necromancer bloodlines: The more powerful a necromancer, the more likely they are to be sterile. Matt's not gonna have biological kuds even if you throw concentrated science at it. His parents were low to middling powered and already very lucky to have him after just five years of trying. As a result of that, necromantic bloodlines are....weird. They can't 'breed' for power because doing so would terminate the bloodline, and above-average necros are usually encouraged to find non-necro partners if they wanna procreate. As a result, inheritance goes sort of along sister branches. So if a necromancer dies, their inheritance goes to the children of whatever side of the family the necromancy's from. So if it's matrilinear, one's ritual tools go to the strongest matrilinear Cousin (or patrilinear, depending) and only in the next generation can get them back. That goes for estate too. Non-magic stuff like money gets ingerited along the normal lines, but the system is more of less build on the assumption that if you're strong enough to have stuff worth inheriting, you won't have kids to give it to. So 'weaker' necros tend to have a lot of kids to kinda compensate. As a result, necro family trees tend to be horrible hedges. In verse, that's the reason why so many people can vaguely sense ghosts. The Tradition is longstanding, and there's a lot of people just carrying one or two relevant genes around. That's also why you occasionally get decent necros out of absolute nowhere. (Which reminds me: necromancy inherits like corea-huntington, via 'copy threshold', and yes matt gained additional copies when he got his divine upgrade. If you were to compare pre/post Hel, his genes would actually look different. He's not aware of that) As an additional side effect tho, things very rarely get lost, since the end of the direct line is already calculated in and presumed normal. For example the knife matt carries is seriously old and of some archeological importance and is indeed a family heirloom. And if you ran a gene test on it, it'd mark him as a relative (also, matt's own remains will probably be fashioned into similar items post-mortem. No use wasting that potential.)
Related: real estate inherits like magic items because if a necro's lived and practiced there for any length of time it essentially IS a magic item. Like, matt's garden is all but soaked in magic, from resurrected plants over rituals held in there to his well, the thing's so steeped that letting a non-necro inherit it would make Poltergeist look tame. And since necromancers draw a lot of power from the Land they're on/surrounding areas, that sort of building is seriously valuable real estate and good luck getting anyone to sell it to you (the house did belong to his gran and since he's currently 'strongest necro in the family' it went to him because London is a big juicy steak of energies)
And yes orphaned estates are frequently the causes for hedge-wars or free for all landgrabs by whoever's feeling lucky.
