also i just learnt that bone china is not just called that, it contains actual bone ash so I guess we all know what Matt's dishes are made off. He can probably repair them back together with magic
I didn't get any sleep on the nightshift either :( There was unrest on all but one of the wards I'm responsible for.
*gently squishes internist cheeks* Darlings, sweethearts. I know you're stressed, I know you're usually better than this, but three diluted patient samples? Really? At least one of which confirmed to be taken while the IV was still attached to the very arm you took it from? (how we could tell: Patient went from Hb of 13.8 to 7.8, Na from 149 to 196 and K from 3.1 to 1.8. Aka 'Did you stick a corpse???' values of electrolytes)
the mass effect fandom keeps disppointing me there's not a single garru/nyreen fic out there despite the fact that CLEARLY they should have a rebound fling in the space between me1 and me2 I swear to god I will construct this ship from scratch if I gotta.
Plan for tomorrow: Must: hit office supplier for things hit thrift store to see if they got nice summer stuff, I could do with some short or medium length skirts, maybe a tshirt? Budget: 20 bucks optional: buy succulents (sempervivums?) for outside windowsill, an ivy, and a planter for said ivy
so I'm in all seriousness considering getting myself a nice beach resort vacation at like Mauritius or similar for my 30th no that' next year, next year i might visit kas, so my 31st birthday. because y'know what, if I'm already perma-single with disposable income, with no way sensibly save money/build wealth 'cause economy? Might As Fucking Well Live It Up While I Can And Have That Luxury Retreat.
thrift shop was closed because saturday, but i did my errands as needed. I now own letter paper for the first time in ages again. I also got myself some pomegranate ice cream that I ate while sticking my feets in the very frosty but pretty river, so that was a success. The quest for plants was also good, I ave a nice potted ivy, as well as a sempervivum and two delosperma with pretty yellow blossoms the rest of today is canceled because the red tide just struck, so planting will happen after my oncall shift, on monday.
Dnd one-shot character i just whipped up: Halfling by name of Grace. She's a gunslinger, which yeas means that virtually any gun is a big gun on her. It's not stopped her yet. She used to be an army scout but left service after the dal ratia-norl war and is now part of a pirate/privateer ship (it's a long story). She's vegetarian because she really dislikes the idea of killing animals. Still a pirate though because hey, those people can totally surrender and then nothing happens to them, plus they picked this. Her parents are incredibly disappointed.
Started Mirror's Ravage, since Cody's is finished and made good inroads already! Should be able to do the embroidery bit on friday oncall and then finish up in the oncall after that
I have six oncall shifts in July and six oncall shifts in August I'm gonna be gently dead but also: MONEY. Plus i get a bunch of time off so most of my weeks will be 3 day weeks.... but still. Lots.
My sister met a 'vacines cause autism' antivaxxet in the flesh and now i had to give her the cliffnotes 'NO' talk
she seems very receptive to it at least. I keep...forgetting that many people don't know the details of like, how herd immunity works, or how infectious measels are, and how horrid the bad cases can be.... poor psych major sis is not getting a crash course
Yeah, same, and i sure wish there were better science courses that not only covered the basics, but also some applied stuff that would be more relevant to everyday life (like... how vaccines work......)
Yeah part of the reason why I started science blogging on tumblr was that i realized that some point that i had learnt things that other people hadn't, and that they didn't have access to that knowledge because it could be very expensive and I wanted to at least do a little to fix that.
Bless you for that too, because there is definitely a communication gap between medical professionals and the average patient, to the point where I will honestly be surprised the day I meet someone whose doctor prescribed psychiatric medication and also made them aware of the information clearly labeled as important information for patients.
True to form of 'it's a holiday tomorrow' today saw an acute GI bleed with no measureable clotting anymore (INR past detection threshold oh lord) (4 units crossed), a big stomach surgery (3 units crossed), and a freaking cardiac embolism as a post-surgical complication, meaning increased risk of heavy bleeding upon treatment (6 units crossed, for a start).. and all of these people are freaking A+. our blood fridge is bursting at the seams because we keep having to order new units in in case shit goes wrong and there's starting to be a serious space problem.
