wow this thread exploded i am so happy right now re: acetone: i use it on mlp, which are also vinyl, so it should be fine? i read somewhere you can also use goof-off, so that might be a thing (also oh god rerooting flashbacks. listen get a reroot tool or make one its literally a big needle with the eye cut at an angle it makes life so much easier) i think that might have been someone else? i'm not sure, i stay away from fandom for the same reason you do (seriously have you seen truebjdconfessions its a cesspit) and re: eyes: i think eyeco might have some nice stuff? i think it's for reborning mostly but theres some neat realistic eyes on there and pupapa is having a MASSIVE clearance sale atm so you might get lucky (though their main thing is diy eyes, which you paint yourself, so bear that in mind) also monique has a fuckton of wigs but i've never actually bought from them so, shrug? also cancan but theyre slightly costlier i think if you look around on pullip hobby sites there might be some more stuff out there, last i saw there was a bit of crossover b/w them and the hujoo fans? i dunno man but dang your girl is adorable eeeeeeeee!!!! eta: remembered i took a pic of my main babe, here she is before the Great Makeover that's currently taking place
these are three of my favourites of theirs, Blush for Darling, Lil' Snitch, and the White Wizard's Daughter
WOW WHAT AN EXCELLENT GALLERY HOLY CRAP the tantabus pony is everything i never knew i needed in my life /saves for refrance
so! i got around to doing the faceup for one (1) pullip, who i'm turning into my runequest character Chester Brie i'm actually really proud of it! not bad for the old college try (esp the eyebrow shrub) Spoiler: nekkid dolly pics
Re: acetone, it's the thing to use for vinyl but not for any hard plastic. I usually see people sanding ABS to remove the paint but I didn't realize alcohol would work, that's neat!
@prismaticvoid I'm still not super clear on what kind(s) of plastic barbies are, exactly, but I can say that acetone took off that shiny top layer on the hard plastic body just fine. I actually tried alcohol and I didn't get super good effects tbh. Maybe if I'd soaked the face/body for an extended period it might have worked though!
Barbie heads are vinyl, idk about their bodies but you're definitely safe using acetone to remove the factory faceup!
Ayyyyy i found a wig for my other girl! I think her name is Hazel now? I dont even remember what i was calling her before lol, but she very much looks like a Hazel to me now Ignore her "clothes", its just some fleece i wrapped around her so she wouldnt be naked anymore
