apparently its similar to coding and physical electrical currents mentally it still feels like number magic you need to either be very drunk to get or very sleep deprived
Tbf most coding feels that way before you get the hang of it. It’s so similar to physical electrical currents that that’s how a lot of people seem to discuss it. People understand it because they aren’t figuring it out from scratch, they’re building logic gates.
I’ve been watching tutorials and banging away in a testing world. it feels like things will get a lot easier once I have all the components and their properties memorized. I understand what the different kinds of logic gates are meant to do, I just can’t remember why that comparator goes there or where to put that dust if you want to power this piston! this must have been easier to learn for the people who have been playing since there were only like 3 redstone components in the game.
Ah, then we have the same problem. I know exactly what a logic gate does, but I'm not an electrical engineer so I have to look up what the physical circuits are like pretty frequently.
this sounds like one of those "how your brain works in comparison to others" kind of things because a lot of people i've seen say its been getting easier to use redstone as more components are added. that before then the circuts were bigger and messier and harder to fit around each other
I mean, it's definitely easier to make circuits now afaict, but if you only have a few pieces it's much easier to remember what each of them does and how they interact with each other. it's easier to design things now, but harder to figure out what you're doing from the ground up.
hell, I majored in electrical and computer engineering, and I still have to look them up cuz I can never remember lol
this is a really good tutorial! it's a set of 15 basic projects, and he's included a world download with the framework of each one laid out. he explains the goal for each, then has you pause the video to build it and unpause when you're done to compare your solution to what he did. I feel like I have a much better grasp of the basics after playing through this!
I UNDERSTAND REDSTONE Spoiler: large images it's an exterior door! if you activate it from the button side, the t-flip flop down at the bottom will only be activated once, and then when you walk over the pressure plates it'll be activated once more to close the door behind you. if you activate it from the pressure plate side, the pulse will go through a pulse multiplier, so it'll activate the t-flip flop once to open the door and then again after the door is open to close it behind you automatically! the pulse only gets multiplied if you step on the pressure plates while the door is closed, so it can't leave the door open for mobs to get in. it doesn't work if you stand on the pressure plate instead of walking straight through, but adding something to fix that would make it too big so I'm leaving it like this. it's nothing too impressive but it's the first thing I've designed on my own, so I'm really proud of it :) now to make a 3x3 version!
TIL that you can turn sprint and/or sneak toggleable instead of hold-only in vanilla its under options and accessibility and i am LIVING now that i can save my poor little pinkie from cramps
hey so would anyone here hypothetically be interested in a kintsugi multiplayer server? because if enough people are I would be willing to shell out for a Realms subscription.
have received eyes emoji from @anthers and @Artemis which as we all know is equivalent to a legally binding contract so kintsugi realm is GO :D sooo what would y’all want for details? datapacks? seed? idk if it’s possible to add mods to Realms worlds but I would be open to it as long as they’re not too far off vanilla
idk much about realms, but I think the only mod I really rely on is tinker's, because FORGEEEEEEE. A few others that I always try to use but nothing critical. (Pam's, Decocraft, Monk)
I just looked into it and it looks like Realms doesn’t support mods :/ you can do datapacks though, which might be able to provide some extra functionality? I’m on my phone right now but when I get my laptop back I can look into that more. oh I should also ask, are you playing on Java edition? because that’s the one I got.
I have no idea :D! eta: I have the original pc edition is that java (this feels like a dumb question but there's something called 'bedrock edition' I know and i'm pretty sure nobody literally has a bedrock console)
yeah that’s java! there’s also bedrock and a handful of console versions, and they’re all compatible for playing together but java is left out lol. re: datapacks, I usually like to use a handful of these. any of them look good to you?
I honestly don't know what a datapack is and have never used one in my life, so I'm down for whatevs anyone/everyone else is
