Friends and I decided to do a detailed literary dissection of Homestuck to see what works and doesn't in it. The community we're posting it in uses "counts" for recurring quirks or problems with the text being analysed; our count for when the kids were clearly conceived as white and suburban or the trolls use expressions or behaviours which seem too American is "White SBurb Postmodernism".

    Character building in D&D:

DM: So their surnames tend to relate to the type of magic they have.
Player: I want to give [my wild magic sorcerer] a really normal first name, but old-mannish. Like Eugene.
DM: Oh, sure, and that's the sort of name where you could be Gene when you were younger but Eugene now.
Me: Wait, your character's name is Gene Wilder?

(No, he didn't name his character Gene Wilder.)
