It's a shame nobody has taken a look at how you engage with the mods and has concluded that you were abusing them. Might be a real game-changer. Too bad it never happened, apparently
Not really. I'm not sure how offended I should be at being called a bigot. Do I: sob and cry at how worthless I am dig my heels in because how dare people insult me by calling me evil Be okay enough with it that the focus can be on fixing it instead of how painful it is to draw attention to it.
No, it happened... it's a shock and I'm not sure how it happened... but the best thing I can do is ignore the person who keeps saying that they're enjoying it and doing the opposite of helping.
That's an interesting theory. But why would they want to see you, specifically, as an enemy? Because if any of these people had a general thing of wanting to see people as enemies, we'd probably have noticed. Like, rigel and I were in an online feud for years, and you can see how much I wanted to "see him as an enemy" from the fact that he hangs out on my forum and is in fact now one of the moderators. I'm not even sure I have an actual enemy, and I'm pretty sure I can't be generally considered "overly-defensive", given how often I find out with some surprise that someone apparently hates me and is really mad about something. I am not exactly highly sensitive to people disliking me, so I don't think I'm "overly defensive". Quite possibly, you're not abusing them. Abusive people are not always abusive to everyone all the time. You have been fairly polite to a number of people here, too! So the existence of people you haven't abused, or who don't realize that you're abusing them, isn't really evidence here.
No, the best thing you could do is consider the possibility that maybe the reason every single person who reads those posts concludes that you're abusive is that you're actually abusive. That would be a step towards fixing the actual problem.
Define "it". Because you never define your terms. And it makes communication with anyone outside your head absolutely unworkable.
mods (aka whoever edited this) this is a good point but it seems counterproductive to edit someone’s post without explicitly saying you did so, especially when the person in question has such a shaky grasp on recorded history
OMG, THANK YOU! THANK THANK YOU. You did something helpful that I asked for. r/zoomies How can this happen more often? The abuse happened... I mean, I don't understand it, but I decided to roll with it.
Sorry... I think the mods gave me the code so I could repost with the ease of editing, and I decided to add stuff. I thought that it went straight to the wiggler? Could something be added?
Yeah, that was me. She posted the thing and utterly mangled the quote tags, so I ducked in and fixed it.
Oh! I made an assumption. I thought the bolded bullet point was added by a mod. I’m sorry for muddling the conversation, then.
Once clarification finally rolls around, IF it ever does, there will have been five posts MINIMUM wasted on this entirely unnecessary detour that derails the rest of the conversation, which is why NOBODY WANTS TO DO THIS.
Thanks for drawing attention to it, though. To make a godawful metaphor, I want to believe that I am a house where most of the space between the inside and outside walls is filled with bees. Yeah, it's pretty horrifying, but all you need to do is get a beekeeper to move the bees and then you replaster the inside walls.
Is the abuse this 'it'? Because that's one of FOUR 'it's in this post, and if this is still what you mean, it's the least sensible place to substitute in 'the abuse' (Seven posts of unnecessary derail!)
Oooooh, were you talking about the other it? Actually, there are a lot of its.... I got this.... Athol Magarac said: ↑ No, it happened... it's a shock and I'm not sure how it happened... but the best thing I can do is ignore the person who keeps saying that they're enjoying it and doing the opposite of helping. No, the abuse happened... grok/see/embracing/realization/acceptance is a shock and I'm not sure how the abuse happened... but (blah blah blah might be wrong) they're enjoying the shitshow/dumpsterfire/bullybaiting and doing the opposite of helping. I don't got this.
literally like four pages late but I believe the scene Athol mentioned (to explain a provided screencap of the wrong Sherlock continuity) was from BBC Sherlock Season 3 or Season 4, the character in question who rips down his wall of crazy is Anderson, it's heavily implied he was driven to some sort of manic obsession by Holmes faking his death and Anderson was heavily linked to the weird 'let's dunk on the Sherlock Fandom during Hiatuses lol' writing thread. Iirc the meltdown leading to the described ripping down of the conspiracy walls was started by Holmes ~charmingly~ disproving Anderson's theory for how he survived the nonsense with the jumping off of a hospital roof, bc Holmes is so clever and cool and witty and cutting and Anderson is a ~mere obsessed prole~ beneath this genius' notice. So really just... an even worse comparison with context? @Athol Magarac please don't take this wrong, but you do realize Sherlock Holmes is in all continuities at least an arrogant asshole if not downright cruel? (edit: fixed the quote to contain both links i oopsied with highlighting)
