finally onto episode 3!

it might just be me but the prince who cheered up utena in the flashbacks seems to sorta resemble anthy

i wonder if she has a sibling or something?

 

why does poor anthy get slapped so much

 

i don't trust nanami, anthy seems like the type of person who doesn't really have many nice things happen to her

 

i bet she's yandere for her older brother i'm calling it now

i don't know if this stuff is intentional or not

i have to admit, the recurring references to incest is starting to squick me a bit

i could also swear that this anime is reusing a shitload of animation

i've also noticed that a lot of the idealism these characters all seem to keep demonstrating is fantastical and unrealistic, and i have a feeling that the ideals getting shattered is a deliberate theme that is happening

and this worries me a bit, because this whole "wanting to become a prince" thing with the white-haired prince from utena's flashbacks empowering her and all is pretty damn unrealistic

it's still too early to tell, but knowing all this, i think i see a lot of potential for something big to happen later on

that magic sword is called the sword of dios, so i'm just gonna guess that this is the prince's name because that seems it would fit narrative-wise

 

i was starting to hope that blue-haired boy was actually gonna be a nice kid but here he is being a dick to his sister

this does support my hunch about idealism a bit, however. and if i'm right, miki is in for a harsh awakening soon

 

i hope i'm not stifling discussion in the thread with my liveposting or something. i'm probably being really unreasonable and dumb, but i'm worried people might be avoiding replying to me for fear of spoiling me or something

I am thoroughly enjoying these reactions. But yeah, it's a bit hard for us to talk about a lot of the show without spoilers, because of twists and recontextualization and whatnot. Do keep up the delicious screaming, though.
