A fun thing to do to real crap Genjis as Mercy; when they Ult, bait them away from your teammates by running off on your own, wait till they're nearly in slashing range, then guardian angel right past them. They'll get off one slash on you, but won't have enough time to catch up to anyone and kill them. Note, only works on crap Genjis who waste their dash and don't manage to get the reset. Also works on crap nanoboosted Reinhardts.
My Mercy game has had a lot of luck with crap Genjis regarding just using that little laser pistol of hers. I find his model to be very easy to headshot with her projectile speed for some reason even with how much maneuverability he's got - he's probably the hero I'm least afraid of when playing Swiss-doc. Note on any other hero Genji is nigh-impossible for me to headshot. EDIT: Spoiler: Sidenote ...The URL of that image is a rollercoaster, wow.
You also have to learn the signs of him putting up deflection and stop firing :) and then know his cooldowns
How is it that I legitimately just can't fucking aim with Soldier 76? I can aim with goddamned Mccree. I can hit the double headshot with Mccree. The hell does the mechanics of the spray and pray manage to escape me?? I'm so mad. I can aim with Genji! I can be double jumping all up and down the walls and still be more accurate than I am with 76, what the actual fuck.
I've never been good with 76. I can fucking snipe with Symm and get off headshots on Widow all day but fuck ME if you hand me 76. I am so goddamn bad at him.
I can fire strike Pharahs out of the air with alarming consistency, why the hell can't I use my godsdamned hitscan weapon to down her?? Also, there are some fucking solid Junkrat VAs out there, holy shit.
Y'all know how much I love Mercy, but I am tired of the fandom wanting her to be PURE CINNAMON ROLL. That's boring.
Premise 1: she is God, because she is a doctor, and all doctors are God. Premise 2: the world is still fucked up. she is so tired and the world is still fucked up. how much work does it take to fix the fucked up. Conclusion: She IS NOT GODDING HARD ENOUGH. YOU WILL BE FIXED.
Personally, I like the interpretation of Mercy as someone kindhearted, gentle, and caring... but despite what convention would have you believe, none of those things equal weak or stupid, and if you're up against her she will bring you down. She does no harm, and takes less than no shit.
I just prefer the interpretation that she is those things because she wants to be, not because she's incapable of doing harm.
we’ll probably be getting doomfist soon meanwhile people at Reddit think he’ll be a… kid??? And I just no. No he won’t because the game is rated T for teen and adult on child violence isn’t ok in that rating. Personal hope: Our Doomfist is an omnic with Terry Crews’ voice. Or a VERY heavily modded human. But we do have a rig in the PTR for the numbani payload missing the gauntlet and being busted open + new menu music that meshes the original ‘doomfist’ music from the first overwatch short and the overwatch menu music.
I have a bunch of recordings of various sizes but not the time or technical skill to make a compilation haahaha anyways, related to the earlier discussion about mercy doing some pretty good damage when necessary, here's a fun moment (that's from a comp game. i have the rest of it saved too - for the record, they'd pushed the payload all the way, with 40 seconds to go - we ended up pushing it all the way too, with ~2 minutes left. we then took the 1st point in overtime and somehow pushed it all the way to the end again. it was sort of a magical game.) ((eta also can someone explain to me what i can do to make the video quality less shit???? the clips are 0% blurry when i edit them and then they're... this :I the only thing i have that does any kind of editing is windows movie maker can i blame it all on that and if so what can i get instead))
I keep trying to be a decent Mei, cause the notion of using the walls to isolate people and cut off escapes is really interesting to me, and it's really frustrating when people don't play aggressive enough for me to do the thing I wanna be doing. I don't wanna use my walls defensively, I wanna use them for crowd control, dammit. But I can't cut their fucking Rein off from the pack if he refuses to do his damn job and move forward. She's a lot easier to use effectively on defense than offense, but I've been trying to use her wall to set up team assaults, like making a passage from the choke on Hanamura's first point to the little side room, but that is also shit because I'm too shy to use teamspeak and nobody can read my damn mind. >:[ Also, she throws her ult way farther than I expect her to, like, jeeze. I aim it real high, so it'll gently arc onto the point so by the time I get up the stairs, everyone'll be frozen and my whole team's behind me cause I blocked the main gate and lured them down below so I could set up this fucking play, and oops, what the fuck I'm up the stairs and the whole team is in the middle of the point but where's my ultie?? Did a D.va eat it?? Oh wait, it's in the back fucking corner, hitting jack and shit. Whhhy is Mei so stronk???? Buuut!!! I did do a cool thing! I saw a Bastion drop down and try and murder some folks, so I iceblocked in front of him so he couldn't shoot past me, and my team swiftly obliterated him. It looked really cool and heroic in the POTG our Lucio got! I didn't have the wall because I had used it a few seconds earlier cause their Ana boosted their Rein and I waited a full two seconds for him to move past the choke so I could break her line of sight and swiftly destroy him but that filthy goddamned coward forced me to just wall his whole team off while the boost wore off. Fuck you, Rein, you dirty coward, I wanna have fun here. In other news, I've been doing the thing where you get six Anabots in a custom game and set it to only headshots, and for all the heroes I've tried it with, Mercy was by far the easiest one to consistently get headshots with. Guess I maybe oughta whip out her pistol a bit more often, huh?
Ehh. For some reason I can't bring myself to worry about Bastion being OP. I kinda like them being an unkillable monstrosity, after all my sour turns as ambush Bastion. Plus, how often will Bas be in turret form nowadays? Their recon mode gun is way better for long-mid range. The fact that tank mode also gets ironclad and stacks to 70% damage reduction with nanoboost is kinda scary, but, ehhhhhh. Things might be scary for a while, but I'm glad they're trying new shit, and if it doesn't work out they can just change more shit till it gets cozy. I dunno, I'm just glad they're so free with trying new shit out.
