The rest of the gang that was left at the tournament grounds has packed up and is heading somewhere in the large carrier-type vehicle of Bulma's, the one with "576" written on the front/sides. I think sides. I could be wrong. None of this matters in any regard; it's just a big flying van with room for a bunch to ride. I guess Videl's hitching a ride too? Maybe they're heading to the source of the fighting, in which case I would say bad, bad plan. yeah okay yamcha but. it's great that they're not just dead forever! but the bad thing is that he did it in the first place. i don't imagine it feels particularly great to be the partner of someone who would do that. (putting aside his whole past, i guess) A huge, sudden wave of force violently rocks the ship. It passes quickly, but leaves Bulma with a bad feeling that has to do with Vegeta. Pretty spot-on feeling, as the last earthly remains of Vegeta are crumbling to ash and blowing away in the wind. It'd be nice if someone could grab some to bring back for scattering/memorial purposes, but I doubt that's in the cards. Piccolo dumps the kids with Krillin, who seemed surprisingly affected by Vegeta's death. Unfortunately, since we usually don't get to see much besides what happens around significant fights, we have no idea what their relationship was, if Krillin has any reason to be regretful or sad beyond "shit, lost Plan B should something happen to Goku". Which is probably one of my main gripes about DB in general, at least the manga: sometimes we are presented with things (like relationships or reactions or whatever) that we just have to accept, even if it feels odd or unexpected or whatever, with very little background as to how they came about and why they make sense. Oh well. Piccolo also says Krillin should let their families know the deal. at least there's a body for gohan....... small comfort, but, it's something poor krillin gets made into the bearer of bad news more than anyone else Piccolo returns to the scene of the explosion. There's no sign of Vegeta left, and Piccolo takes a moment to recognize his sacrifice. you can say that again Piccolo heads over to finish off the remains of Bobbidi, but something catches his eye on the way there. uh oh The little bits of Boo scattered around the area are moving. And not just moving; they're taking on form and substance and... clothing. i like the little one in the front with its arms up As soon as they've taken on miniature-Boo form, all of the little flesh pieces congregate on one spot. They merge together into a blobby approximation of Boo. Piccolo doesn't wait around to see if it resolves itself into Boo proper: he immediately gets the fuck out of there. As expected of the one I can count on to most often make sensible choices. Good job. Boo pops back into fully-formed and clothed existence. He does some stretching and then laughs. At Vegeta's apparently useless self-sacrifice? At Piccolo just hightailing the fuck out of the area at the first sign of trouble? At the sheer joy of being alive after countless years sealed away? Not quite sure. Maybe just enjoying being Boo. Bobbidi calls him over in a weak voice and asks to be put back to normal. Boo very cavalierly just sticks out his tongue until Bobbidi wrangles him with the threat of sealing, at which Boo uses his head-appendage-beam on Bobbidi. Instead of turning into a cookie, Bobbidi turns into a Bobbidi with an intact body. He gives an "attaboy" to Boo. i love this reaction face so much (boo's response to bobbidi's "attaboy") Bobbidi switches modes and vows revenge on "the green one" and the kids. Not by destroying the planet; no, that's too kind. And quick. He's going to make them suffer. Meanwhile, Piccolo has caught right back up to Krillin, who didn't really have a chance to get anywhere. He relays the news while taking Goten and Trunks back from Krillin. It's too dangerous for them to stay down below, on Earth. He's going to take them up to the Lookout, where hopefully they'll be safer. still think you could probably do some wishing shenanigans to work something else out but oof. that's a lot of pressure for two kids who are eight and under The Only Way To Travel something good happened! shin is still alive!!!

Ch 469 'bout time for goku to be waking up (A Slim Hope) there we go .... huh, so i must have done some bad senzu math earlier. kind of embarrassing. i managed to get through calculus and statistics ((for biologists, so... not the most strenuous statistics, but whatever)), but i can't subtract simple numbers Goku feels around for people's ki, and can't find Vegeta or Gohan. He does sense Piccolo and Krillin, though, so he teleports off to where they are, hoping to find out what's going on from them. Piccolo and Krillin have delivered Goten and Trunks to the Lookout. They're still out cold, and Krillin worries about what they'll have to tell them when they wake up. He then asks Dende if he can bring Eighteen and their kid up here too, despite how selfish that may be. Dende looks to Piccolo for advice, but Piccolo's like "That's up to you. You're the deity." i'm just apparently gonna get emotional about dende every time i see him. he's so big! teenage boy! definitely could not lift him over my head now (disclaimer: i have no idea how old dende actually is) Just then, Krillin and Piccolo sense a familiar ki. They go running around some corner and spot Goku, who says "Yo". Krillin is overjoyed to see him alive (well, "alive"), and hurries over to ask Goku what the hell happened to him. Dende follows to get Goku patched up (thank god for priests). There's an interlude where, presumably, Dende tends to Goku and Goku gets the details of what happened from Piccolo and Krillin. The grim details: Gohan, Shin, and Vegeta... all dead. (Although Shin isn't. But they don't know.) Boo is a terror and a menace, and at this rate, things aren't looking good for existence. But there's no need to worry now, because Goku's here! He's still got the better part of a day to be out of the afterlife. More than enough time to take care of Boo. looks like it's time to lie down and give up shoot indeed Piccolo objects; numbers won't make a difference against Boo. done what now Oh right, fusion! Dende's heard of that. It's the specialty of the Metamors! Yeah, that's right. Goku's met some of them in the afterlife and been taught by them. There's some stipulations (need to be roughly the same size and power), but basically fusion puts two people in one body and makes them way stronger than the two individuals by themselves. This is all very exciting and startling, but it feels like a bit of a moot point: Goku's got less than a day left, it took him a week to learn fusion, and even if he were able to fuse with someone in the afterlife, he can't come back to Earth after this. So, sounding to me like it's still time to lie down somewhere and give up. Mr. Popo suggests that Trunks and Goten might learn to fuse. They're the same size, right? piccolo's face (and dende's ears) Well, there's a plan! Goku will start teaching the kids fusion until he's kicked off of Earth, then Piccolo will continue after he's gone, I guess on the assumption that he can keep them in line and maybe has some experience himself, although I don't know if this fusion and the Namekian fusion are the same/not. He's also the Official Babysitter, so. The problem, of course, is time. While Trunks and Goten are learning fusion, people are going to die. Yes, but if the boys can defeat Boo and protect Dende, they can fix it with the dragon balls. Speaking of, the sky suddenly turns back. Someone's done some summoning, obviously, and the only person it could be is Bulma (who apparently had them? Was just holding on to them?) Well, that sucks; if they use them now, that's a year's worth of time in which they won't be able to use them. With no time to waste, Goku searches out Bulma's ki (which is difficult, I guess because it's not crazy high) and transports to her. Yamcha's just made a wish to bring everyone back who died today (expect the bad guys) when Goku shows up. He hastily stops them from making any more and sends Shenlong home without using the final two wishes. This means that they'll only have to wait for four months for a full three wishes. Also, since everyone's grouped up in one convenient location, he'll bring them all to the Lookout in one fell swoop. That's handy. Bobbidi is disconcerted by the sudden darkness and return to light, and Kibito, who's just been resurrected, is also disconcerted by... I guess a similar, but more serious, experience.
Were the limitations of the Dragonballs ever explained? Couldn't they wish to put Boo back in his walnut, or at least for the power to defeat him, or something like that?
It's kind of unclear exactly what the dragon can and can't do, but way back at the beginning of Z, Shenlong couldn't do anything about the approaching saiyans because they were stronger than him. Of course we have no idea if he could have done something like make their navigation systems malfunction or send an asteroid directly into their space pods or put a big old shield around the Earth because no one thought to ask. :') I'm guessing this is a similar situation; Boo's probably too strong for him to directly seal up or otherwise harm. That's my take, anyway.
My best guess is that that the magical dragon can do whatever heck it wants, but if it uses its power to directly effect another person they get to make a will save vs. the dragons creator's magic stat.
Wasn't there something where the Eternal Dragon couldn't teleport Goku back to Earth because he didn't feel like coming back?
Yep! They tried to wish him back and Goku wanted to bum around in space for a while longer, so he refused, and the dragon was like "sorry guys, no can do".
Ch 470 will today be the day i don't make any typos and i also don't screw up the post formatting? find out below! (Bobbidi's Revenge!!/Bobbidi's Revenge Plan Gets Started!!) Kibito spends a moment trying to figure out what happened. He senses that Shin's still alive somewhere out there and heads in his direction. Cut to Shin, who's clearly not doing so hot. However. GOHAN!!!! \o/ Shin promptly collapses. Luckily, he's found not much later by Kibito, who seems to have... well, I guess healing powers. They don't seem particularly gentle, though, and Shin wakes up hacking. Poor guy. He's startled to see Kibito, who he thought had been "blown to bits". Yeah, but he got better. There's no time to waste trying to figure out what happened to make Kibito whole again, because Gohan's in danger, and they can't let him die. With Gohan around... there might be some hope for righting this situation. They manage to locate him without too much trouble, despite the fact he fetched up in some wooded area with fairly substantial tree cover. given that shin referred to goku, gohan, and vegeta as "saiyans" earlier, i wonder if this is a bit of an issue with the japanese -> english translation regarding the kanji "hito" (person, human, etc.). maybe "mortal" might be a better translation? then again this is all complete speculation, i could be completely off. but it just makes me curious, because humans =/= saiyans and yet they keep getting called humans. admittedly, gohan is half (... i wonder if maybe that contributed to the "han" in his name, which would be a homophone for "han" meaning "half") and half, so... human isn't as incorrect Shin insists; yep, they're taking him there, and they had better do it before he up and dies on them. Kibito transports them. Ooh, fancy! Haven't seen many people with teleportation powers. Viewpoint shift; Goku's managed to get everyone up to the Lookout. He's talking directly into the minds of every (sentient?) being on Earth. He really hates to do this, but he's had kind of a shit day, and he's looking for the culprits. Close your eyes, and see the visages of those who have done him wrong (Trunks, Goten, and Piccolo). Those are the ones he's looking for, and until they surrender themselves to him, he (the fearsome and powerful warlock Bobbidi) and his servant (the unbeatable and terrifying Boo) will try to force their hand. Through violence. very important info re: warlocks Boo turns everyone in the city into candy, sucks them up, and eats them all in a single mouthful. Horrifying. Ch 471 (A Time of Trial) But that's not the end, because apparently an empty, deserted city counts as a mess. And warlocks hate a mess. Boo is told to "scrub it". "Scrubbing it" apparently equates to pulling a way more effective Big Bad Wolf and blowing it down, leaving it nothing more than a pile of rubble. i am starting to think i may have been duped. i do not believe that you actually value cleanliness Bobbidi repeats the images of Piccolo, Trunks, and Goten one more time. Those three. Those are the ones he wants, and if he gets them, he'll leave the people of Earth alone. boo making the absolute most of his time on tv worldwide direct-to-brain broadcast To contact Bobbidi, just call for him mentally and he'll pick up on it. Almost immediately one of the monks from the tournament calls in with Piccolo, Trunks, and Goten's names... but this information is of no interest to Bobbidi if he doesn't have a location to go with it. No? Well then, monk, you've just wasted the great Bobbidi's time and that deserves punishment. The monk's head explodes. Let that serve as a warning to anyone who wants to call without something worthwhile to say. fucking sinister and presented in the most bubbly infomercial-esque way that makes me hate it even more The broadcast cuts out. oh boy you've changed so much * pins Most Character Growth medal on his hat * Goku stops him; there's still hope to stop this if he can help train Trunks and Goten. Besides, with the dragon balls, they can put anything that goes wrong right again after Boo is defeated. (... if you keep Dende safe, that's a really important part of this equation!) They have no definition and don't really look like moons, so it's hard to say exactly what they're meant to be. Kibito repeats his tournament performance and gives Gohan energy, which wakes him right up. gohan!! glad to have you back in the conscious world! But why would Shin bring Gohan here, of all places? Kibito's particularly curious about that as well, given the whole "no one but kaioushin (and i guess kibito too)" allowed rule. sword? sword???! sword!!! Apparently, many gods have tried and failed to use this sword. What makes Shin think that a mere mortal could ever even hope to wield it?! Well, he's super fucking strong, but Kibito missed everything because he was too busy being dead. Anyway, no harm in trying! jesus christ kibito is large There's a little bit of travel involved to get to the location of the Zeta (or Z) Sword, and Kibito gets ticked off by Gohan's raggedy clothes and does a clothes beam on him to give him something more appropriate for a sacred place. spiffy. The sword is at the top of a tall rocky spire. It's embedded in the stone. don't worry about it (also those earrings are so good!) Back on Earth, the kids have woken up and been told about what's happened to Vegeta and Gohan. I mean, they deserve to know, but not the greatest of plans, because then they have to be yelled at to stop crying and learn this fusion thing if they want to get revenge. Are they going to use the HTC? No, they'll learn fast, and they may need it later. * gulp *
