I wish more YouTube readings of SCP logs had different voice actors for different people and had sound effects instead of reading stage directions out loud.
Would anyone else totally buy the Hateful Dead album? It sounds kind of like what I listen to in real life anyway. I could see Colin Meloy covering it.
I seem to vaguely remember a foundation tale that I'd like to reread, I don't think it's an SCP, but I can't for the life of me remember it. The gist was that the reason that old photographs and videorecordings are grey is not because they couldn't capture colour yet, but because there was no colour, and the story is from the view of someone who sees the world become colourful and is extremely alienated by it. It has a picture but I don't think I remember what was on it, except it had something to do with the tale, because the tale was based on it. I think it was of that jogger lady who had painted herself completely grayscale? So yeah. Anyone remember that one?
Oh! It's in one of the special categories, not a Tale. Yeah, it's under 'explained' SCP 8900-Ex: Sky Blue Sky The image was changed, according to the comments, because the jogger lady pic was a bit too nice to be believably from the era.
Man I finally caught up with things and I am Not A Fan of the 049 rewrite. The old one was brief and to-the-point, which at least for me is one of the hallmarks of a good skip. It's like remaking 173 and adding like six voice-acted interview logs with the artist that made it in-setting.
I just read through it and...yeah. It's like they figured "hey, adding more detail will make it creepier!" When no, part of the horror with 049 (and a lot of other skips) is the element of the unknown. Plus, why the hell would the Foundation be giving it material to work with when - as far as anyone can tell - all it manages to do is create frankensteined zombies that are hyper-aggressive?
It was fine as it was! Even if the rewrite added anything new, I wouldn't be a fan of changing it. It was a classic.
On an unconnected note, Pinterest's save function apparently believes Three Caballeros fanart belongs in my SCP folder, and now I desperately want that crossover.
Coming back to this later, I wish to God whoever was taking all the best lines out of the logs would stop. They got rid of "researcher reported quantifiable amount of surprise" and "tasty but disturbing" >:(
The censored word in 096's log which leaves no trace of its victims is almost certainly supposed to be "eat", but I'm amused by the idea that instead it beats its victims so hard they break into component atoms.
too lazy to sign up for the forum so i guess im not getting to see what everyone was talking about with 231 lol. edit: googled and i think i've read it somewhere, so never mind
Ugh, they're apparently revising a bunch of the old ones, including making 166 into some weird deer-goddess thing with long boring logs from the GOC. I guess the old one was gross and creepy in what she did, but that was the point! It's horror! It's supposed to be disturbing and unpleasant! I'm not wanting to do my reading channel anymore because I hate the revisions to the wiki so much.
