There is. But it's tricky to explain. And not really a thing I notice entirely consciously all the time. A feeling, sometimes.

 

Let's say I actually believed that your wife is a lunatic (which I don't, as this is one of the classic accusations abusive men use against women they can't quite control), and I actually believed that she was at a party being hosted by Pyronica, who, by the way, is NOT my friend. Why, then, are you trying to set yourself up as a dealer of addictive drugs instead of seeking out the assistance of persons who might actually know how to handle that problem?

 

Oh. Intuition, is it. The subconscious processing of information too fast for conscious thought to reproduce on command. Useful for survival, in dangerous situations, but... if you can't justify your suspicions and actions, how will you evade the angry consequences of reactions from those who don't approve of your choices?
