What is a Pattern artifact?

 

And what do they do when the being you fight can regenerate, or doesn't even fully exist on a material plane?

You'd have to ask one of the sorcerers in the family for specifics, but the Pattern is the source of Order, and Pattern artifacts incorporate elements of it. The practical result is that it can destroy the very essence of a Chaos demon, and protect your mind from their effects.
