If we stay in one particular world long enough, we cast Shadows - duplicates, if you will - of ourselves into the adjacent worlds - the farther away, the less like us they are. I went to one of them once and found my local Shadow had a bad reputation as a demon prince. Normally we make sure not to go to places where we have Shadows, but I couldn't get back to the original.

 

Oh, oh... I see. It's a magical thing.

 

Let's take a look and see what's actually going wrong with it, then I'll know.

Hmmm... that might work. I definitely could do something like that in my own dimension...

Though I'd have to create copies of them, not retrieve them, since I can't access anything in a genie/smoof lamp while I'm outside of it, in any dimension. And I dunno how well that'd work, considering that your dimension doesn't seem as welcoming to my kind of magic as mine is, and there aren't any other copies of the movies in your dimension, so... I might not have a template for the copying.

If you want to look at it that way. It's the fundamental nature of the multiverse - anything that's part of the Pattern or the Logrus is more real than anything in Shadow. There's only one true version of me, but there are many versions of you or any other Shadow being.

 

And all those versions of me are equally true? I'm not the Ur-Norm?
