I think the worst characteristic of humans in respect to that sort of behaviour is that they keep trying to narrow the definition of 'human'. So far as I know, even in your dimension, metahumans haven't really speciated yet. I'm not saying you should call yourself human if you don't want to. But the humans who initially decided to define you as non-human were being dicks.

Explain To Me How "I Think This Part Of Your Culture Is Bad" Is Not Directly Related To "I Think My Culture Does Things Better Than Yours"?

 

Well, okay, this is tricky but... morality isn't totally subjective, not really. I mean, there is room for debate and people doing different things, but there is a legitimate argument for (Frequent) Killing Is Bad. 'Cause the basis of any good ethical system, well, is caring about people, yeah? Caring about their lives and their happiness? Trying not to hurt them?

*laughs* I mean, I don't perfectly live up to that standard, no one really does, and I bet I'm especially bad at it but...

My point is: when people die, it usually makes other people miserable. And isn't really pleasant for the dead people either. 'Cause the dead people have families and clades, people who love them, people who want them to stay alive. Even the humongous assholes do. It makes them sad, it hurts them.

And the dead people, well, once they're dead, they can't come back. Well, unless you've got a handy magical creature to revive them or something. So, all the potential they had, all that makes them them, once they die, it disappears.

And people killing other people causes the other people's loved ones to get mad, and try to kill the original people back. Which escalates and well... you know about that, yeah?

So, while I don't think the killing can ever entirely be stopped, I do think that the sheer amount of it that goes down on Alternia doesn't make people particularly happy or your society flourish.
