"Dark"? Interesting question. That is, if we're talking about the same thing. Life, death, dreams - they're all just attributes of different planes of reality to a necromancer.

 

Dark as in evil, total corruption, want to eliminate life or use powers to...misadvantage.

 

Oh, no. That's an attribute of intent, not the arts themselves. A necromancer can raise a body without its soul, of course, but they could also reunite a body and soul. Assuming it hasn't been destroyed.

 

I've always believed that knowledge is never bad. It's what you do with it that counts. I wouldn't raise people from the dead to be my slaves or anything like that. That's gross. But wouldn't it be interesting to be able to talk to dead people about what they're experiencing and ask them if they're willing to be informants on a study? Wouldn't it be interesting to know how people animate corpses? Wouldn't you want to know what actually happens to people after they die? Without, you know, having to die?

 

I've been through the Paths of the Dead without dying - had to rescue a soul that wasn't supposed to be there. The trick is being allowed to come back.

 

That sounds terribly interesting! I'd love to hear anything you might have to say about it!
