Well, we don't have lusii. We're raised either by the adults who are our genetic parents, or if something goes wrong, by other adults who choose to take care of us in their stead. Well, people decide to raise the children they adopt, but I would hope that viviparous people wouldn't create biological children without the intention of raising them. We certainly made the decision to create biological children not just out of my desire to have that experience but also because we wanted the experience of raising a child or children from birth.

Tyrianblo+o+ds are exceptio+nally rare, and there are o+nly ever two+ alive at o+ne time. They are also+ exclusively female suppo+sedly, ho+wever, I'm no+t sure if they are actually exclusively female o+r if, like my caste, males are simply exceptio+nally rare. Which when co+upled with ho+w rarely bo+rn tyrians are in general wo+uld add up pretty neatly to+ "o+nly female". That's the empress tho+ugh and she's ho+nestly just a figurehead. She's the face o+f the empire and the male do+minated highblo+o+ded castes are the o+nes really making the decisio+ns. They're the o+nes sitting o+n her co+uncils, running her co+urtblo+cks, and o+verseeing the vario+us districts and states o+f the empire. While there are definitely females in these higher castes, my friend Aranea being an example, birth rates are still skewed to+wards males. What females are bo+rn are relegated to+ lo+wer level statio+ns to+ to+p it o+ff. Yo+u rarely fo+und female seadwellers in the supreme co+urtblo+cks, to+ give o+ne example. Meanwhile the female do+minated castes are lo+wer o+n the spectrum, with the exceptio+n o+f my caste and the tyrian caste. Ho+wever, jadeblo+o+ds have ano+ther pro+blem entirely. See, while we're technically co+nsidered midblo+o+ds we're all sent to+ live and wo+rk in the bro+o+ding caverns. No+ cho+ices to+ be had. Yo+u do+ what yo+u're to+ld and fit this perfect image o+f what a wo+man is o+r else.
