I can say that Oedon is hardly a figure to fear. Beyond the awe felt towards the divine, that is. She's been quite sympathetic to our cries, though I've not had audience with her personally. She was rather close to Caryll, however. I'm not certain where he is though, unfortunately.

Oneira...the Handmaid doesn't usually save people. That is not her job.

She hates me fondly, and I'm not sure I'd ask her to save me, even though I would save her, if I could.

    Especially not from...that.

I would avoid dealing with the entity from whose speech you transcribed that.

I've seen that before and I don't care to see it again, any time soon.

Willing to share details? Not terribly interested in religious trappings except as preservation of ceremonial language, but... Ford speaks as if is physical entity, actual danger. Should know what to avoid, besides symbol, yes?

I know I'm technically knot lowcaste enough for that particular branch of belief, but... at some point, you just welcome the end.

The symbol usually shows up on walls in blood. I have no idea what the entity in question actually wants but I know what the worshippers do, and I don't want the blood to belong to me or someone I care for.

I know what you mean but I can't say I am not glad I survived every time I got to the point I thought death might be preferable to continuing as I was.

On one hand, I always manage to survive the next 500 volts, but on the other hand, I am not potentially a starship battery. To know for sure what's worse than death, you'd have to know what death actually is.

I have never intended to allow you to die. That might be the only thing your wife and I agree on.

Any warning signs besides Sudden Sigils? (What do worshippers do that is so terrible?)

Also, could worshippers be aggressive organics Rom described earlier? If yes, they could likely also use advice on surviving them.

Oh ho ho, you don't want to keep him in eternal submission, then?

The worshippers in question would be of my species, and since Rom considered my appearance to be unusual and unknown to her... At least not the Alternia branch of the Chucklers and their particular brand of crazy.
On the other hand, who knows where else the horrorterrors got their tentacles.

She likes receiving, not taking, a distinction that's always been lost on you, Bill.

The worshippers are usually trolls, so yes to both organic and aggressive, given that the cult encourages its members to give themselves up to aggressive impulses. Avoidance is the best tactic. Carrying a blaster set on disintegrate is the next best; Sunshine and I have run into indigos on baked sopor and chuckles who managed an impressive amount of mayhem before their bodies realised that they were dead. Disintegration puts a stop to that.

Is it not possible to negotiate?

Useful. Gratitude. Will provide information on Licentan dangers if needed in future? Unsure of appropriate exchange, apologies.

Negotiations with those actively trying to kill, unwise. Talking and shooting contradictory, not shooting = dying. Also, usually language barriers.

What if you could incapacitate them? Figure out their motives?

    Not usually.

    ...have you met Papyrus?

In that case, useful, but often impractical if they travel in crews. Many opponents is not easy fight. Motive rarely matters anyway.

Negative. Thinking of organics that slaughtered my colony. Wondering what went wrong.

I hate them. But I would not launch violence to their protected places, to their vulnerable young.

There is a difference between that and not defending self. But sometimes, hard to tell. Very complicated emotions. Alone a long time. Tangled. Clogged.

Again, I personally don't deal with Oedon. She hasn't taken interest in me it seems, though I'm fine with this. It is Ebrietas that I'm more concerned with. I lack Caryll's skill with runes, however, so I can't transcribe her words into pictures. The mark is one devised by Caryll. I simply know it from reading her papers.

As far as what the entity wants, Caryll's research points to her wanting a child. Her species seems incapable of breeding successfully themselves, however, and so they must seek surrogates. What other desires she has I don't know. I can say that her chapel appears to be the one consistently safe spot in the city, thankfully. That I have seen at any rate. Not a beast or mad man to be found in it. She seems to be answering our prayers for safety, or at least I'll interpret it that way. This of course only applying to Oedon. Whether she is the same individual that speaks with these Chucklers I can't say.
