2) You are actually more powerful than me in the universe where you are immortal and can grant wishes and I just have a space fleet and a lot of people with guns. However, I really hope you won't act on that because I think you would be a pretty shitty dictator and I also don't think you know how to keep outside powers from fucking things up except by wishing them gone, which...would probably have unintended consequences nobody would like. I didn't want Pennarion to be a dictatorship initially and I don't want it to be one forever. But until a bunch of the old guard has died off (a process I'm hastening along as we uncover their plots) there's really no hope for democracy here.

"Equality" is relative. Some people will always have more power than others because they can convince other people they're right. Some people will always be smarter or stronger or tougher than others.

And there will always be people who derive great pleasure from the pain of others, and people who don't. The problem with the first group is they are infectious. When I was young, I would not have enjoyed throwing people out of windows or cutting their heads off.

Then Princess Kolhaari paid us a visit and killed my sister.

And then not long after that a bunch of the old Cereuti families decided they wanted to rejoin the Conglomerate.

So now, I only allow myself to indulge this sickness when dealing with people who want to fuck everything up.

 

I think you haven't encountered some of the people that I've encountered.

All truly monstrous people are still sapient mortal beings and all sapient mortal beings have the capacity to become truly monstrous, but until we can cure it fast enough to stop them from doing the things they like to do, the alternatives are kill them or lock them away forever. Well, if you lock my people away for long enough they die anyway.

Er, anyway. I don't feel particularly old? I'm practically a protoform compared to the real medics I mean compared to the medics I used to work with.

 

I, uh... generally people don't die in prisons unless you kill them? I um. I think you don't have enough information to know who or what I have met. I think finding suffering and hurt upsetting is also kind of a built-in thing for me, considering I was constructed as medical personnel. I have seen five battles in my life! It was all very very upsetting and hurtful and I don't like it!
And running away has helped a lot so far :c

 

I don't know who or what you've met, but I can make educated guesses as to who you've not met, if you can make the decision that you haven't met anyone who you'd suffer more not hurting than hurting.

And some people do die in prisons whether you kill them or not. Not every species is the same.

 

That's how that works in my experience, honestly - rank matters very little when you're the one person with the necessary medical experience around, you're that person. Don't let older people in your profession make you feel like crap. When you're just getting started, you have a lot more capacity to learn new techniques and concepts, and won't get stuck in ineffective routines because 'that's the way it's done.' Plus, at least for my people, you have a lot more stamina for long shifts and long surgeries. I... don't know if that works the same for your people?

Kind of but we don't really have a physical deterioration as we age, beyond stuff like cybercrosis, so. Yeah. As long as we maintain our frames correctly.

Organics adapted for organic environment. Can survive things mechanoids struggle with. Problems with long-term existence, correct, but also adapt and flourish much more quickly. Not contest.
