He just likes people and expresses it through tactile affection. He legitemately does not think of any of this as bartering or trading. If you want to hug him you can. He won't touch you unless you are okay with it, emergencies and threats to life excepted.

 

Nope, these are all good points. I am speaking about my personal standards, and I had understood correctly that Captain Nichrome was speaking about Cybertronian history. It's fascinating to me, but I'm going to get things wrong and misunderstand sometimes, simply because my own dimension is extremely different.

I will point out that while I don't set the societal standards of the planet I was born on, I actually am friends with the Imperator and I do have quite a bit of influence on social policy on Pennarion...whether or not I want it, which gives me the responsibility to provide good advice. Tainell can be brash, and he does sometimes enjoy scaring the pants off people. But he'll listen to me if I tell him there's something serious he should consider. He may not always go along with what I say, but he'll hear me out.

Thank you. I know my species can be awful when it, or privileged groups within it, have the upper hand. I try very hard not to be that kind of human. I've done things I regret and I hope I've learned from them.

My sincere apologies. I don't think I understood that this was exactly what you were trying to do at the time and I argued with you about the meanings of the words. The words do mean different things to me than they do to you, but I will endeavour to find a less painful way to express what I'm trying to say.

That's a very fair point, Iridium. Most organics aren't aware of their programming, though, because it's not written out in code and uploaded into our minds directly and purposefully. My therapist has a difficult job.

Well, let us just say it is. Damaging, both to the surgeon and the patient. A person very dear to me was made to train and work as a mnemosurgeon, and... it was not good for him.

 

I know Morse code...so I don't think it would take me too long to notice a laser pointer lighting up when nobody was pushing the buttons. But I take your point, and I'm sad to hear this.

Of course I don't. :) @Kalinthy Siavarden had her work cut out for her, especially given that I was the first organic sapient of my particular species that she'd ever met. We had a long talk during which we established that, unlike some others, I'd prefer to be less stable than less intelligent or less creative or less passionate (and the fact that she accepted this is why I could work with her, unlike most of the others I've attempted to work with.)
