Stubbornness is a trait I had noted we shared, yes. At least we're both getting better at pointing that in helpful directions?

Okay, here's the thing. I have a great and many number of gifs Riki has saved of me with cape waving heroically doing dashing things, yes. BUT. There are untold hours of things we don't talk about because they're not fun to remember. I am proportionally quite full of unproud moments, and have entirely too much pride and arrogance for my own good both in terms of nature and nurture, which I've been trying very hard for the last year and change to unlearn.

I can, sometimes, accept praise for things I actually did well. I cannot accept blanket statements about always being good or awesome or whatever.

(Riki also probably has video of some of the more objectively hilarious unproud moments, if you want to ask. I'll just not pay attention to that.)

Norm, think of it like this.

A relationship requires the consent, cooperation and active involvement of two or more individuals who both want it to happen. In a relationship, you get to know each other very well. That's why relationships that start with immediate attraction don't always survive the process, because getting to know someone inevitably requires that you give up whatever false impressions of them you had when it started.

A crush is something one person does all by themselves inside of their own brain. The other person doesn't even have to know about it. And because only one person is doing it--in their imagination--the image of the other party inside that person's mind may not have much to do with reality and is likely to become more detached from reality, not less.
