Okay, so I am happy to tell that story, although I am beginning to realize that some of the stories I think are funny also come off as horrifying, due to some mismatch in setting expectations. With that said, there are a lot of funny moments and eventual triumph in this particular mission, but it was not entirely pleasant.

I have been in a lot of dimensions but I have rarely had the leisure to immerse myself in much popular culture. I just found out that Luke and Leia were brother and sister when Mabel freaked out that I 'shipped it'.

 

It's probably both funny AND horrifying.

Funny parts - the building management program of the habstack we were infiltrating being apparently sentient enough to not only realize we were there but to try to repel our presence... with cleaning bots. Imagine Brick getting smacked in the face with a mop attachment. Also, infiltrating the building in the first place via zipline, which I believe is the source of some of Riki's favorite gifs of cape action, as it's literally impossible to not look dramatic ziplining through a window unless you have a catastrophic landing failure.

Not so funny parts - the straw that broke the building's back re:gaining sentience was getting quarantine protocols uploaded, so it wasn't the kind of typically-neutral newly awoken AI, but rather hostile. Especially towards the middle level where the local doc had built a temporary clinic. Sick people are a lot less capable of fending off sufficiently determined if insufficiently armed cleaning bots.
