I'm sure you wouldn't be happy for a very long time if you had to start next week. For one thing, your parents would be dead, and since that would undoubtedly be very premature, you might very well not have any idea who you could trust.

But realistically, the odds are that you'll continue with your education and your parents will live out their lives and by the time you have to do the job, you'll be ready for it. There will be times when you will have to do things you will hate. Not things like "be nice to important people who are obnoxious," although that's not fun, and I'm not looking forward to having to explain to Certain People Who Shall Go Nameless that the thylacines SOMEONE decided to bring to our West Coast are more likely to be eaten by abotaru than to take over the ecosystem and yes, he's putting up a fence (you are, aren't you?) but it's mostly for their protection--no, I mean things like, "this person's continued existence is not compatible with the health and safety of my population, and I have to do something about it, but their spouse and relatives are mostly innocent, yet they are also mostly likely to resent the fuck out of me if I stick their loved one's head on the gate where it really belongs, and that could lead to getting a knife in my back when I least expect it. How do I fix this situation without having to do anything I can't live with myself for?"

However, since you will not be taking over your throne in a coup, there should be very little of this sort of thing ahead of you.

In my experience, things that are so awful you have to laugh rather than cry do not result in "cutesy-happy" smiles and laughter, but rather another kind entirely.
