-0 You seem to be lacking an understanding of how we categorize life forms. Every living organic thing belongs to a kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species.
-0 As the kingdoms themselves are first determined by being prokaryotic or eukaryotic, a prerequisite of fitting into this structure at all is being based on either RNA or DNA.
-0 In other words, you require a genetic rather than a binary code.

That's a very basic understanding of organic biology. Almost like it's limited to one planet's life forms.

You're presuming a taxonomic structure that's universal, rather than a culturally based one that relies specific means of determining the position relative to everything else. Not all organics bind themselves to that system, and some species (used broadly to refer even to non-similar species within the same planetary origin) actually transfer between a multitude of genetic structures and forms. The galactic community is broad and rarely agrees on any sort of labeling structure, especially given that some species are utterly dissimilar despite having identical origins. But it becomes reductive and overcomplicated to try and specify thus-- definition drift. 'Species' no longer requires a specific layer of taxonomy and cultural basis beyond a general galactic assumption.

There are at least twelve mechanoid (as in, has internals resembling the general pully-level system of basic machinery of most space faring species) species of wildly dissimilar makeup currently at spacefaring levels of technology. Broadening our definition to 'synthetic' rather than 'mechanoid' nets us at least 140 species on the Galactic Council.

Cybertronians have a variety of subtypes, given different colonial makeups, though we fit a general mold. Combine that with a variety of methods for being 'born' and that makes for some tricky maneuvering depending on how you want to quantify them.

(As a note, Cybertronian taxonomy was based around alt-mode for a period of time. So you can see why relying on specific cultural definitions for the galactic scale might result in poor translation.)
