An Earth style staring competition doesn't really have much meaning when we both have manual control of our optics. From what I understand (feel free to correct me, @Iridium ) humans have only some control over the blink reflex.

But I didn't bring my optic surgery tools into this space. Besides, that would be a test of balance more than anything. I don't fancy fixing a dented or cracked optic right now.

Interesting! The soap operas I watch never talk about small details like this. I'd gotten the impression that looking into another person's eyes was considered a sign of sincerity. I don't know why - for me, at least, looking at the optics was simply the best way to see whether they were going to reach for a blaster before it happened.
