*smiles softly* Well, I'm still at the point where it feels like a miracle.

 

When you think about how if the multiverse had happened only a little differently, if the fundamental forces had interacted just a little differently, if G-d had not breathed in and let the Big Bang bang, it's a miracle that the atoms and molecules we're made of ever existed, let alone that they came together to form beings of such complexity, with the ability to care about one another.

It's okay that it feels like a miracle.

Just don't let that make you believe that you don't deserve it.

Besides, you know that even though you've lived at least five hundred years for every one of mine, I managed to end up with a lot of awful things in my own past. We...have to stick together, in the face of people like that.

Yeah, true. Just... for me, the "ability to care about one another" part's where it starts feeling miraculous. After all the atoms and molecules and complex beings, after all that stuff... That last part. That's what feels like a miracle to me.

And yeah, we really do need to stick together. *smiles softly* All of us. It's hard sometimes to believe that we can actually manage it, but we keep on doing it and amazing me anyway.
