From what is known-- please correct if misunderstood, Nichrome-- pre-war Cybertron literally made people to suit their jobs, and those who tried to find other assignments were either killed outright, brainwashed, or... vanished. Wouldn't call that any better. Large part of the original revolution.

We did okay on Prion. There weren't really classes, just classes. Haha, I jest.

...but. It's not like nobody found anything to be bigoted towards. And when you found a society on research and scientific development, it gets sort of sour for those who aren't suited or interested in academia. It wasn't nearly as bad as anything I've heard here, but... we weren't perfect.

To give a more concrete example:
I wasn't supposed to be paying attention to the lesson material I as a laserpointer was being pointed at. Or listen to the lecture.
I was just a tool.
Turns out spending so much time learnign about how to theoretically do many things means you can do some pretty fragging amazing improvised things in the middle of a riot no matter how much no one wanted you to understand the things that you were pointing your little laser dot onto.
Revolution sadly rarely stop when things are going well for the rioting side.

I have mentioned the classes of droids, but I also have gathered that even the humans of my world have 'classes'. They are more subtle, unless you speak of the other races of human and long-standing racism, and quite a few of them are determined by wealth and such.

The Alchemist took our clan - our colony - and left Cybertron many millions of years ago. He stuck around and interacted for a while after that before withdrawing. I've never met him, I'm not that old, but I've seen the recordings of his lectures.

He didn't like talking about the Great War. It's very vague. The other Primes, they were his siblings, his closest friends, his contemporaries. And... of course, one selectively tells their own stories, but I get the impression he was a balancing force, and well-liked. But then Megatronus made his great mistake, and everyone was at each other's throats, and the planet itself was tearing apart! It seems... very traumatizing, when you're in the midst of it, and you can't calm anyone down, and you've got your own clan to try to protect.

I've thought about it a lot. I think this is why he never wanted us to return to Cybertron, to contact the other colonies, to leave Prion. I think he thought if we never reached out, nobody else could hurt us. We are his children, after all.

He was wrong. Perhaps if we had opened diplomatic channels with other species, Prion would not be dead.

 

A very long war with a lot of killing. It had... noble origins - I have no problem with the roots of the revolution except for things that have either been discussed to death or I'm not comfortable talking about in a public space - but it devolved, as wars do. Now we're trying to recover, but at least the idea that people are disposable or aren't people is less widespread.
