He is heir to a fortune, yes. His parents are hyper-rich and he is to inherit their empire of whatever it is. Mostly he paints, but he is quite mathematically minded and a near wizard with code. Sometimes he makes music, I think he is mostly known for that since his paintings are terrible.
(I will say, since it seems safe to say here, that he does fund the droid rights movement on the sly.)
