Look. There are some important points I feel are being missed here.

If that's the kind of spell that I think it is (and I acknowledge that I don't know that with 100% certainty) it isn't cast on persons, it's cast on the energy of a space. When people are very angry and hurt, and there are a lot of them in one place, the energy of the space they are in can get really unpleasant and then other people who are normally calmer will become uncomfortable and prickly. A spell that dissipates this energy doesn't actually affect anyone's mind at all.

In case you haven't noticed, this is not a private place. I was having a very intense conversation here quite recently with my bondmate and my promised, and people still had things to say to us. I didn't bite their heads off because I knew we weren't in a private place.
