Well, sure! But interface is supposed to feel good, and it does if you like it and want to be having it. Sometimes you just want a little boost of feeling-good and not a whole relationship, or you're not in a place to be having a relationship right then, or you want a relationship but can't find one but can find someone up for a casual fling.

 

Very much so. It's like trying to compare... um, a vending machine bag of chips to a meal, or an advertising jingle to a symphony. The smaller things have their functions, and they can even be very important functions, but they're incredibly different experiences.

I wasn't attempting to do that. I'm just not aroused by people I don't have an emotional connection to. I'm not saying that it's a better way to be. There have been times when having the interest in and/or capability for casual sex would have done me a world of good.

I don't want your partners. It's great you're happy, but you're in a bit of a honeymoon period with regards to constantly mentioning it. Like. I don't even know what their hobbies are, you just talk about how great they make you feel, which is great! But repetitive.

I also wasn't trying to judge by my comparisons. There was a point of my life where, talking literally about food, I would have rather slit my wrists than go to a banquet dinner. Analogies are decent approximations for communication, but they have the potential to fall apart when people are coming from differing starting points... which has happened before, here.
