-Lacuna rushes over to her boat, popping open the paneling to look at the internal mechanisms. First step was to figure out how this was supposed to work. Second step was to figure out where the problem was.-

 

[Eyefeather rushes as well, blinking over at Lacuna to get a vague idea of what she should START with. Okay opening it and looking at things. It looks. Mechanical. Helpful. Well If she just messes wth it until it looks veguely orderly it will PROBABLY work... eventually?
She sets to work rummaging around in there.]

 

...Yessir. [He smiles faintly.] Focal's a good kid, I'll keep him in mind.

since i got launched into space this means i don't have to clean up the bananas and mouse traps, right?

-After a few minutes of thinking, Lacuna starts to fix things, replacing belts and rewiring parts of the wiring.-

[making artwork out of random machine parts is absolutely how to fix this. No one would design the interior of a machine to be ugly after all.]

 

-Would it be more impressive to start the boat normally when she's done, or hotwire it? Who is she kidding, she's absolutely going to hotwire it. Wings angled confidently out of her way, she starts to work on some of the deeper problems.-

 

[Demmel is absolutely staring at her behind steeples fingers. That poor boat. He slaps a hand over his mouth before he can actually say anything to direct her, and he whines softly.]

[Laughing at Eyefeather directly after she kicked his aft is a bad idea, so Eclipse does his best to keep a straight face and still wings. Clearly, the way his engine keeps turning over is an indication of a medical issue and not something she needs to pay attention to.]

 

[She is confident that this will work and she is like ninety nine percent she is halfway done or something. Which... okay Lacuna is evidently farther ahead than her, but that's okay! The tiny pink jet is like an actual engineer so that is to be expected. She isn't delusional about her skill level. But it will be impressive if she can get the boat to work at all and because everything she does is impressive it will just do it.]

((she is absolutely willing liminal space into making her cringeworthy hackjob work so the boat WILL actually be functional. But so would a cardboard box full of loose cogs with anything ~true believe~ so...))

 

-She pulls out of the boat, wiping down her arms and face before starting it up.-

[Eyefeather finishes a good bit later but she does. And when she does and closes the boat up and goes to start it up, it complies without complaining.
She straightens smiling smugly.]
I know when to accept that I can't win.
But second place isn't bad for my first try~
