[Gess crouches next to Lacuna, pulls a few bits of shrapnel out of her subspace, and sets about trying to work them in between Life Support's hand and Lacuna's teeth. When this doesn't work, she shrugs and instead shifts to picking apart the delicate joints at the corners of Lacuna's mouth.]

Ford nods. "Looks to me like it's getting a little out of hand," he says in sympathy. "If you feel you're getting more punishment than you deserve, you've got the right to say so. But I'm guessing you don't, the way you're reacting."
