"We certainly do not," Ford admits, grinning stupidly at Sev, wryly at Valiska, and then, slyly, at Samira. He rather expects either Sev or Valiska to make him run away from her, but they don't seem inclined to.

"I wanted to know why, before rushing in. I am trying to learn sensible restraint, I'll have you know." She chuckles. "More like helping out a friend in need. Now she is in good standing again, she has a lodge, she has a husband who's actually a girl and is almost never home."

 

Valiska smiles sweetly. "If you mean to be clade with us, come here and sit and talk. I've made tea. It's Stanford's favourite. A cat may look at a queen, and a queen may look where she pleases--and I am both."

"If you don't like tea," Sev adds lightly, "there's coffee, and if I remember correctly, there ought to be whiskey in the cabinet under that end table."
