And yes, my vallaslin are something of a mark of adulthood for my people. Dalish elves-- elves that hold to our remembrances of the old ways-- use them to dedicate ourselves to our gods and sometimes to our works. They have a... less pristine history, but they mean a great deal to me. I don't know if I would say they are "problematic" but they are very... distinctively Dalish, I think. Perhaps there is something similar for your people?

So, yeah, I guess there would be less selection for physically attractive actors, less optimization of that aspect... less competition for stardom...
