"Yes, I do," says Ford.

That's called cutting your fingers off and is less unusual. You're not human, though.

 

That's called being a spherical representation of an abstract concept, and is both extremely unusually and fairly typical, depending on your dimensional plane.

"Longer than that, at least in my dimension," Ford says, then turns to Berit. "They were definitely what you'd call 'the bad guys'. It was their job to put an end to anyone who didn't follow their religion exactly the way they thought they should. From what I've seen of you and your group, that isn't what you're about."

 

"Mostly." Ford smiles at her.

Ford grins. "The Inquisition, what a show -- " His voice is very deep and rather nice, but he doesn't think so, and doesn't go on.

... well, I think it had stopped doing major stuff before that. It just wasn't officially shut down till then.

 

Hmmm. Did you start out human and change, then? That happens sometimes, I think. Although then you have to work to define what a species is?

Unfortunately I cannot remember the lyrics right now. So I couldn't sing it even were it time.

 

Ford shakes his head. "My mother's ancestry is indeterminate. I had some genetic testing done when my wife decided she wanted to get pregnant, and I learned that I'm part nonhuman, and I'm assuming it was on her side. It was good news, though. I'm more genetically compatible with my wife than I might otherwise have been, and I've always known I was different."

 

(Berit laughs.) What's your name? You're certainly charming. I've got all of my fingers (wiggles them) but I'm not human either, so.

There are those who want that of us, but I've no intention of letting it happen.

 

Ford grins at her. "Might I trouble you for some tea?" he asks, sitting down.

 

Trouble me? You should be worried I'll trouble you over it.

-pours him a cup chuckling-
