As a universe begins, One is spawned; the One becomes lonely, and splits themself that they might have company. In our universal sheaf, those halves become Primus and Unicron, creation and destruction. The universe itself is a separate entity.

Mortilus was originally of creation; our species requires periodic returns to... the primal energy source that creates and sustains all our souls, and mere metal cannot make the journey. Mortilus was guide and embodiment of these minor deaths; Unicron is the final death, that when a soul no longer wishes to return to life.
