Yeah. I wonder if our similarities are what made it so easy for the other Bill to manipulate me... 'Cause he's a Bill and though you guys aren't all the same, you do have things in common and some of the things you guys have in common with each other could be what you have in common with me.

I'm led to believe then that you're insectoids then. Is that on the mark? Ones that I'd guess reproduce via many genetic contributors and one broodmother individual.

Friend in Mando'a is burc'ya. Enemy meanwhile is aru'e, which you may note sounds like our word for outsider. As I said, we're a prickly people. Intensely suspicious of non-Mandos by custom, most of us.

 

"I thought Jez did most of the manipulation, though," says Ford. "Bill does have a certain amount of common history with you, but...did he talk to you much?"

Ford shrugs. "Jez has never really been free, either...despite our best efforts. But I am not sure that she actually knows that."

 

"That's very possible, yeah." He stares down at the empty teacup briefly. "In a way that's both good and bad- I shouldn't have to explain why."

Yeah, Jez did but... I dunno... she might not've been the one to pick me as a target, Bill might've been watching and communicating with her or something. Or Bill and his crew just have a certain kind of person that they go for, a kinda person that's prone to joining them, and it's the same kind of person as he is.

I'm honestly not sure what I'm getting at. Maybe I'm just uncomfortable with being so much like someone I'd been thinking of a force of nature, a nonperson, before. *sighs* Sorry, Bill, I get that you're a person now, but... I don't think I did before I met this you.

He blinked, rubbing his eye and looking over at her. "I don't doubt he will. The babies are back home- but they're doing well! One of them's a bit weak and he gets sick easily, though, and I'll admit I'm really worried for him..." Bill frowned a little.
