I don't think it's likely. In fact, it's even more unlikely than her actually being truly stopped, and not merely delayed or denied. Still, the possibility is hard not to think about.

She. The parasite I mentioned, although she could be more of a symbiote. She's in the ocean. The Empress' own lusus, although of course she also raises any heiresses. The problem is her voice is... psychically detrimental to our species, to the point that we have to actively work to keep her fed or her involuntary hunger whimpers would cause mass deaths of the lowbloods. Furthermore, she's got a psychic connection with her daughters. If the Empress ordered her to, she might be able to kill us all... although that'd lead to her own slow starvation, so probably not. And it's not like one mind controls the other, probably. And it's an open question if the Empress would be willing to take the entire species down with her if she was truly cornered. I don't think her potential spite can be counted out, but if she wanted everyone dead we'd all be dead. She wants all aliens dead. There's a difference.

 

"Why only aliens?" Lissa sighs. "Why all of them? I know why she wants my Jezebel--she wants to be able to break through the walls between worlds when the triangles aren't throwing parties. But really, she wants to kill all the humans? Not just..." Talassani society doesn't really have a concept of slavery because enslavement doesn't work particularly well on cats, but she sort of knows it used to be a thing on Earth.

 

Because her philosophy, which has shaped our society, dictates that trolls are inherently better than other species, and thus we deserve all the space and resources.

I couldn't say. She's certainly xenophobic, tyrannical, and sadistic, but there's simply not enough information on what Alternia was like before her, or what her early sweeps were like. Or, er. Any information.
