Why, do you need tips?

-She knows how to control a conversation. She knows how to charm and dazzle.-

 

"Are you implying your uncle could have nothing to teach me?" Ford grins at her, turning that right back around.

 

Oh, but he's such a busy man. I'll be willing to teach you, though!

-And the ball is knocked back into his court!-

 

Ford laughs. He likes this kid. She's smart... and weird.

But he's also worried about her.

"Show me how he taught you to ground and centre and channel power. Let's see if what he does is different."

 

His head whips around to stare over at this Ford, watching him warily.

 

-Mabel waves her hand airily.-

Oh, you want to talk to Mason for all that theoretical stuff. He sets everything up. I just provide the... starpower.

 

"And he has to have taught you to pull it up out of yourself," Ford says quietly. "You don't remember those lessons? I know sometimes after things get to be second nature, it's hard to remember what it was like not knowing how to do them, but you don't remember the experience?"

He notices Bill watching him, but doesn't say anything. He hasn't spent his entire life cultivating a fearsome reputation or anything, so...he's not exactly startled by the wariness, but at the same time, he doesn't know this being either way.

 

It is second nature. I'm a bit of a prodigy, you know. The Marvelous Mabel Pines!

-She moves her arm out in a dramatic flourish and beams.-

 

'Will' is ridiculous name for a demon.

 

Ford sighs. "Of course you are," he says. He glances back at Bill. "Why don't you come over and sit down?" He has a hunch. If only he knew what that hunch actually was. "I'm Stanford Pines. This is my mistress, Beijada Valisseira. This is my daughter, Jezebel, and my nephew Mason, and my niece Alex, and my daughter's best friend Gwendolyn Northwest. And this is Mabel, who is rather a more distant relative. And you are?"

 

"I'm sure it's not their actual name," says Jezebel. "I'm pretty sure only my dad knows what that is."

 

After a long amount of deliberation, whatever internal debate he had going seemed to have settled and he relaxed once more, his suspicions at ease.

He pauses briefly. "Name's Bill! Or Wilhelm if you want to get technical. I should really just stick a nametag onto my shirt or something.." Bill strides over and sits down, waving a greeting to them all.

"What would be a better name?"

 

That doesn't stop it from being silly. Most demons I know are far too vain for anything too far from their names. Or fragments of them. 'Lucy Cipher' was a bit heavy handed, though.

 

-Mabel flinches without knowing it.-

 

if most demons are like me can you blame them?

 

-He approaches Bill slowly, eyeing who he was sitting with and clearing his throat as he was wary of them- Everything alright, Bill-?

 

He raises a brow but doesn't bring it up.

"Sure seems to be, yeah!" He gave him a knowing look and pulled him down to sit with him.

 

Ashmodai, Paimos, Valefor, Saleos- I rather like him, Dantalion- fuck that guy.

...-badly suppressed laughter-

 

"If you say so..." He replies and sits beside Bill, reaching out to give his hand a reassuring squeeze. He didn't address the others yet
