We got into a fight with an autobot ship, but sustained heavy damage, including a destroyed communications array. The idea was to land on the nearest energon rich planet, make repairs and report back, but upon entry in the atmosphere something went wrong with the engines, I could never find out what. The ship broke into several pieces and crashed.

[He pauses for a moment, resets his vocalizer, wings dropping down again] I was the only survivor, and the ship was beyond repair. I don't think anyone knew that we had survived the fight, much less the crash so nobody ever came looking and I was stuck on an organic planet for about 3 million years.

[It's easier when he's not talking about his synbiotes, just the facts, like he'd give a report to his superior officer, if he still had one]. It's why I'm looking like this [e gestures at the obvious organic additions to his frame, plates that had long since been replaced by what looks like crystalized wood.]

 

[Reffy looks him over quickly at the gesture, wings quivering in sympathy. He quietly reaches a hand out in case Updrift wants to take it for comfort.]

I am still happy to see other mechs again. I missed the contact. And the conversation. Organics tend to run away if you move quickly, or at all.

 

[He gently squeezes Updraft's hand, making fussy wings.]

I hope so, I mean we are talking so I am at least back to people. The pain is... like an old injury. It still hurts on occasion but it's all welded over and healed by now. [That is perhaps not the entire truth. He still feels the loss of his bondmates keenly] I suppose finding bondmates again would help, but I do not wish to force that issue.

They went extinct on their home planet, Eart, millions of years ago! But I have brought them back! There's an Eart film about that, but humans are much less equipped to deal with them than I so no wonder it ended badly.
Also, as you can see from my form, there is a certain kind of corrupted energon that can warp a Cybertronian into the form of one of the beasts. I, personally, wear the shape of a Spinosaurus.
