@Morven: he didn't say he was bothered by the thing, he said he was bothered by the response to the very suggestion that he might be uncomfortable based on what, if i'm understanding correctly, was an IC joke post. he's not the only one who's fucking bothered, either, i've been upset by shit people have been saying in this thread for days now.

i have to leave for a doctor's appointment and don't have mobile data available, but in particular i am extremely fucking angry about the pervasive attitude in this thread that 'no no no it's totally legit for me to be bothered/triggered by dead dove stuff, but if you're bothered/triggered by anything related to 'positive' sex talk at all you're just a prude and being unreasonable in asking for accomodations, ~pleasure is good and natural.~' fuck that creepy uncle bullshit in the ear.

 

(thank you for the clarification, and same; i've got Issues with Things, and mainly i feel like i have some persective that appears to have been either missing from or dogpiled out of this thread.)

 

Moogle, to be blunt, you are getting things backwards. We were offended because we were told any talk about bodies or sex is bad and how dare we expose the minor (Who never actually said he was uncomfortable) to anything vaguely like sex, but dead dove violence shit is apparently totally fine.
Also to be blunt, you do not play here, this is not your argument.

 

He really didn't say in that post what specifically made him uncomfortable except "length and tone" of cT's post. I think it's important to be careful not to fill in the gaps with assumption.

Except I disagree that that's what is being said. What was being said is "We want to hear from FL, not people hinting they might be speaking for him." And I honestly think it's not unreasonable to be pissed that after everything disturbing FL has had his characters do, people jump on cT for this. This was staying inside the the limits that FL had himself established de facto.

Which doesn't mean that the pre-existing belief in what was permitted or not permitted was RIGHT, just that it was consistent.

 

In fact, it's my opinion that things have been going occasionally way far over the line in general. That's not really any player's fault, just there was too much uncertainty as to where the line was so people interpreted it with their own biases and what is the norm they're used to.

I also have the suspicion that we're seeing an age-based double standard here. That kids and young adults going too far is excusable, but everyone else is gross if they do it.

To be honest I'd rather we drop FL from the discussion entirely. He's said he's not uncomfortable with what happened IC. Is any of our new contributors uncomfortable with what happened IC? We have a shiny policy discussion thread for that! :)
Other than that it would be super helpful if maybe people who don't actually play in the rave could not muddy the waters! It makes it really hard to actually get anywhere productive if people get caught up on speculating on what was or wasn't what made FL uncomfortable! :c FL has left, we can stop playing eightth grade literature analysis class with his posts now! :)

I have no objection with cutting or spoilering discussion of genitals from the rave, I just want that rule to be applied across the board with images too.

Also, it's worth noting that if you remove the person's name from the opening quote tag, they won't get pinged for it. Useful when someone doesn't want the notice but you want to talk more about a topic
