This is probably obvious from context, but a tinker's damn is an archaic-ish but still used occasionally in my region phrase meaning a particularly worthless amount. "not worth a tinker's damn" is a phrase I hear in the flea market every couple of weeks.

 

Tinkers give a damn about a bunch of generally useless stuff, so if even a tinker doesn't...?

Well that would intersect interestingly with our thoughts that a tinker for robots is a backalley doctor...

 

According to wiktionary, it's about tinkers' tendency to curse - if one says "damn" all the time, the effect is presumably diminished - but I like that explanation too.
