... ... Fair! Oh my god, I can indulge all of my teenaged goth desires, now that I buy my own clothing. I mean. Not all of them. P sure I'd look silly in a trenchcoat. But I get to wear whatever I want now. :D Heh, it's not even strawberry blond, just vaguely coppery blond/brown. Close enough though. I'll selfie later. Not visual, so inspiration pictures are hard. I don't parse visuals very well, and the social 'this look connotes ___' is really hard. (Like, this makes you look skinny, this makes you look like an MRA, etc etc.) Working on it, though. Obviously, Kintsugi should pick out my clothes. Although friends helped me this weekend with fancydress genderfuck, which I really should photograph.
I´d be happy to help you be gothy! Also hm...for starters, colour theory applies to clothing as well as art in some ways. Also there´s a fashion thread, You can post pics of things you wanna wear together and get feedback?
@emythos @littlemissCodeless That'd be awesome; I will poke the Fashion thread when I've got the spoons for it. I've been sticking with t-shirts and jeans pretty much forever because I'm sensitive about looking silly, so I've just... been avoiding the issue. It'd be nice to have a little more variety! @unknownanonymous My mom is wrong about lots of things. And if I can't have her approval, I might as well find her disapproval funny, I guess. Red hair is gorgeous, anyway. No arguments here. :) I'm so jealous of the giant curly Irish hair - I know it's a pain, but it's so pretty.
@albedo yes, she is wrong about lots of things. like, i don't get into the heavy stuff 'cause i honestly don't feel qualified but yep, based on what i've read, she definitely is Very Wrong About Stuff.
It's appreciated, seriously. I internalized that it was All My Fault really damn hard, and it's hard to rewire my brain in that regard. Every time I see her, I still go 'okay, that was fine, obviously I'm just overreacting to the shitty stuff she's done'. :\
WHAT ARE THESE LIES EVERYONE LOOKS GOOD IN TRENCHCOATS. I mean. I guess. okay I may have weird taste. so basically your mom is forever wrong because black is the color that looks good on literally everyone ever. If you have a difficult skin tone you may wanna get particular about what kind of black you wear but pure neutral black is literally EVERYONE's color it's the one thing that ALWAYS works. (except for some minor social protocols about some occassions being no-black-clothes-occassions sometimes but i digress). You might look very er. well. not-colorful when you wear black but the only thing people might assume when you wear formal black clothing is funeral. That or choir recital. and with that said, you know you have too little black in your wardrobe when you are lamenting that none of your blacks match #goth problems
story of my life right here. @albedo i'd love to help you pick clothes!! you could also wear something colorful near the division between neck and black clothing, to break the sharp edge and make you look less dead.
next day, still absolutely adoring the orange Spoiler: i love this goofy 'in the process of curling my hair' hairstyle dont judge me
Heh, I'm short and pudgy, so I suspect that I would look like a fedora-boy in it; that's what I meant. And I just don't have the patience for dramatic, high-maintenance clothes, too often. XD Huh. So what kind of black is better for different skintones? ... And yeah, I'm pretty okay with l0oking like a ghost, it's kinda fun. Besides, my usual color palette apparently makes me look adorable, which is non-ideal. :P
One thing I'll say is get a black button up shirt. It looks fashionable, and helps hide boobs at the same time.
