that lip color is FANTASTIC on you! and your eyes are super nice too - very understated and classic looking, I think, for the shadow choices. In terms of personal taste, I do completely different things with where I choose to apply my eyeliner, but I think emphasizing the under-eye actually... works really well? esp under your glasses frames.
trufax: it's all i know how to do and even then it's extremely uneven. my hands shake and I'm blind enough that unless I'm smooshed against the glass I can't pull back to see both eyes at the same time without my glasses on. >u>;; i've yet to find an eyeliner that is forgiving enough for my wobbles. eta: otherwise
my trick for when my hands are being shit - smudgy smoky eyeliner look. I just draw, wobbles and all, and smudge it gently with my fingertips until it looks evened out. (which tbh honest is part of why I rarely line under my eyes bc that is harder to pull off and not look more bruised/undereye circles, but you may have better fate than me in that regard)
It is a really good lipstick. Since I'm shortsighted & impatient I tend to just use eyeliner pencil on my upper waterline. It transfers to the lower one when I blink for a nice subtle outlined look and it's impossible to wobble because it's just colouring-in :D
o_o I've never understood how people can do waterline stuff, it makes my eyes itch just thinking about it from failed attempts.. I've always had ambitions of fairly dramatic wings and stuff, but then I never leave the house so wasted effort and I have 0 idea how the heck people manage it even after watching tons of tutorials. makeup = mysteries. very very pretty mysteries.
I think it just varies from person to person: I've never had any difficulty putting (clean) stuff in/around my eyes, even before I started wearing contact lenses six days a week. But the dramatic pretty stuff is absolutely mysteries. Hashtag @IvyLB :D
Oh boy I just draw bullshit on my face :P (my trick for eyeliner is only drawing when I breathe out (Like in video games with sniper rifles), bracing my hand with my other hand and mostly lining my waterlines) I can NOT recommend watching youtube makeup tutorials enough even if just recreationally without intending to copy the tutorials. It's just a way for me to keep up on what's out there, get inspo, and also tips and tricks. if people want to I can go through my subscriptions and put together a list of people I watch?
It's not that late, but I feel the need to say that you're all incredibly cute and I actually love you.
@TheMockingCrows You look exactly like someone I know to the point that I spent a solid two minutes staring at your last set of pictures making sure you weren't actually that person. Also, your eyes and lipstick both look fantastic.
If I ever get the chance to catch it on film, I'll have to show when the double colors are more vivid. but tyvm guys u///////u also lmfao ive never met a face twin before that's wild
OKAY soooo on youtube I follow the following users (in no particular order) for makeup stuff (among other things): stef sanjati (sheeeee doesn't post makeup tutorials often anymore? most of her stuff is transition vlogs and stuff but the makeup stuff she has up is a++) MilesJaiProductions (Miles is a guy who presents incredibly femme so the makeup is more casual drag, and the humor could be a bit obnoxious for some people? But I think he's hilarious and his looks are on point so) princessmei (she does incredible soft and girly looks!) Alexa Poletti (admittedly NOT my favorite channel she is sort of obnoxious imho but her themed looks are p cool so -shrug- She's a spokesperson/model for Gothic Lolita Wigs/Rockstar Wigs so if you are boycotting them bc of the racism drama you might wanna be aware of that) Color Creep (Avant Garde makeup! so fucking great) Hello Batty (Lolita/Goth blogger occassionally does makeup tutorials but not often. Definitly worth a look though if you're into creepy cute aesthetics) KlairedelysArt (artistic/themed makeup looks) Marc Zapanta (Drag makeup, mostly instagram/fashion-beauty style! gosh he is SO pretty I can't even and his makeup skills are UNBELIEVABLE. He's very chatty though so if that's something that puts you off he might not be for you) PsycharaOx (strega fashion and makeup, on tumblr as psychara) Mai Magi (strega fashion and makeup, on tumblr as shortcuttothestars) Tokyo Fashion (J-Fashion, occassionally has makeup stuff but you've gotta search a bit for that) PUSCH ART (straight up bodypainting) anzujaamu (themed makeup looks and cosplay) Michelle Phan (hasn't updated in fucking ages [eta: okay that's technically wrong I was thinking of her second channel which very rarely updates AND she doesn't post makeup tutorials too often anymore] but her old looks are pretty great) and em michelle phan (her makeup brand's own yt) Nibbles Official Makeup (i love her so much. She is very funny. Tons of macro-porn) TheChokelate (also hasn't updated in ages, Lolita transformations) further in the lolita blogger category that occassionally post makeup videos/transformations and likely haven't updated in forever: Lovely Lor (definitly still active), Violet Misa, PorcelainHime, Lillith Gray, iiraliina (last updated four fucking years ago but i like her transformation videos sue me), FilleDePorcelaine, Princess Peachie Angela Clayton is mostly a sewing youtuber, but she has some makeup tutorials! The makeup and hair tutorials of albinwonderland are also pretty great to watch even if they're pretty old for hair stuff, Cute Girls Hairstyles and Vintagious
@IvyLB I've heard about that GLW drama, did a little research and found a "rebuttal" or clarification, can't remember English right now, yay. http://thelovelyify.blogspot.com/2015/09/gothic-lolita-wigs-real-truth-revealed.html?m=1 I'm not necessarily agreeing with them, or against, I'm just still leery since a lot of Black folks (said as an ignorant Asian with a lot Black friends /full disclosure) and the men, especially, are incredibly shadist against those with darker skin. So just because GLW's staff is made up of a lot of POCs, it's just a really messy situation. Wow, elegant gothic lolita or as all the cool kids are calling it these days, lolita fashion. It's been 19 or so years that I've been a classic-style lolita. MANA, formerly of Malice Mizer, is still my fashion idol. How much do I love him? I commissioned an Asian Ball Jointed Doll company to make a likeness of him; I bought two head sculpts. I'm not a fan of is individual pieces but together they are amazing. I feel his older Moi Meme Moitei pieces were waaay overpriced and was of alarmingly shitty quality.
Hey this is super great that you put in the research! I honestly just sort of vaguely followed along the drama back when I kept up with like twenty lolita fashion blogs and couldn't even quite remember what it was about in detail, just that some people loudly declared to be boycotting and I thought I'd better mention the affiliation :P I have a single GLW wig that honestly isn't THAT great considering the price-tag on that baby after shipping and if I need a new one I'll likely buy lockshop bc they are local (if I don't just keep buying cosplay wigs off of ebay bc I have no money) I wish I wasn't ill right now everrytime someone mentions lolita fashion I want to wear my neglected dresses ahhhhh >_>
Same!! I'll be honest, I no longer follow any lolita blogs. I can't wear the dresses much anymore. *glares at revolting flesh bags on chest* And also because of my workplace. I don't even have the energy to wear them on my one, 16 hour day off. Sad because I actually now have the money to be a Brand Whore, but don't have the energy to go look for a buying service, choose something and blah, blah, blah. D: Never thought I'd see the day.
