i forgot this thread existed...anyway... Spoiler: the movie My Star Wars dream of Reylo becoming canon came true. This is the one thing I wanted out of these fucking movies after a point and it has occurred. I got what I wanted. I did, however, finally get a lore explanation to a thing that I finally fucking hate. I will personally be disregarding the name of 'Force Dyad' and simply continue using bits slotted into that concept as a nameless, mysterious and wonderful thing that is beyond the paltry realm of words and science facts. Midicholrians I could take. But something that puts words onto concepts I use in my ship and pornfic? NO. DO NOT SULLY ROMANCE WITH WORDABLE CONCEPTS. D:< I find it funny and also frustrating that this is the thing like this to set me off. Because it is so indicative of what my priorities are. Other people are like "I find it unnecessary and dumb that we have an explanation for why Vader can't lift his arms good in his awkward costume" and I am like "No, no this is fun and neat detail adding yes". BUT THEN THEY TOUCH MY ROMANCE SHITS AND I AM LIKE
Spoiler I actually kind of like the last bit of the movie on Tatooine. Just, thematically, choosing a last name based on continuing a legacy that you think is good and discarding a last name from a legacy that you think is bad, that being a Skywalker is not of blood but of choosing a path. Also I found people respecting D-0's "No thank you"s very good. Also the opening crawl was hilarious, just because the entire thing was entirely out of left-field. Like, any other franchise would have put together a scene or a few scenes of various people suddenly hearing Palpatine's announcement in contexts that are recognizably soon after the end of TLJ, but instead we get it without any such context in the opening crawl because this is Star Wars.
Star Wars Sequel Trilogy AU more specific to my specific interests: Ben Organa, far, far left dark-force-sensitive antifacist radical who thinks he’s just like his mother but is actually an embarrassing extremist in her eyes, Demands Revolutionary Purity, resistance general, struggles with figuring out how to use his dark powers for good and what good even is, vs Finn, new Jedi Master, a shocking breakout light side savant from the ranks of the storm troopers, suffused with both the power and desire to do good but unsure how, not nearly Politically Pure Enough for Ben but they’re technically on the same side, bounces around everywhere, hard to pin down, hard to get down, compelled entirely by chaotic goodness, his WHOLE story is focused on starting a revolution among the ranks of those oppressed by the order, LIKE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ANYWAY, vs Rey Spoiler: New movie spoiler Spoiler: For real Palpatine, grey force user who couldn’t be confined by a family legacy of being bound to the dark side, iffy on morals bc of being raised by grandpappy Sidious and just ridiculous powerful, casually destructive, not EVIL but abysmally low on empathy and social skills, big mystery, no one knows where she is or what she wants but Bad Things happen whenever she shows up, strong chaotic neutral, what the hell does she want, should we stop her or recruit her and for either option, HOW, All of the above vs each other and also vs Luke Skywalker, last Jedi, who thinks they’re all doing it wrong vs His sister who just wants these motherfucking facisists out of her motherfucking galaxy the central theme is how the force/mysterious powers influence society, focused on a time when there’s suddenly a weird surge in force sensitive people of various types, and what the right way to use power even is, or if there even is a right way to use power. Obvious parallels to modern questions about technology, beck, could even have droid revolutionary themes feat. Poe Dameron, no change
Spoiler: TROS On the topic of Palpatine managing to procreate: It's not super surprising that he manages to have a kid during the Prequel era; he was a Senator, and then Supreme Chancellor; a person of personal power and probably quite a bit of wealth. There were certainly people who would have happily taken an offer to grant a child in exchange for either money or political favors. He wasn't the prettiest guy in the Senate when we met him, but that's not always the priority compared to money and power. I was also wondering about the timeline, so here's some numbers: He was, according to Wookieepedia, born about 84 BBY. That puts him at around 65 at the Revenge of the Sith (19 BBY), when he kind of became a little less physically...anyway, 65 isn't too old for a man to father a child; a little later than most, but they seem to have decent healthcare in the GFFA, at least when it comes to things that aren't Force-borne necrosis or lava. Rey was born 15 ABY, which means about 34 years between the fall of the Old Republic her birth. So if Rey's father was born up to maybe a few years before Palpatine became Emperor, then he would have still be in the normal range of fathering a child. Anyway, the point of this is that while Palpatine-as-Sidious fathering a child is kind of gross, Senator and then even Supreme Chancellor Palpatine having a kid would not have really surprised anyone before his battle with Windu et al, considering how corrupt the Senate apparently was anyway. And of course, there were always the cloners on Kamino.
Spoiler: tros Ohh, that would be an INTERESTING story, if Rey's father who made the conscious decision to be an anonymous nobody, was a straight-up clone of the emperor
Spoiler Honestly I was really hoping Rey would be a clone when we saw the whole evil clone lab. I was pretty surprised she was Palpatine's grandkid, that seemed very out of left field.
Spoiler: tros memes Okay the real question tho is if Rey has an eye on the back of her head like her dad
Spoiler At least we don't need to contemplate the idea that Rey is Palpatine's grandaughter with Baby Yoda as the intermediate generation. We don't need to.
I looove Mandalorian aaaa Spoiler Me, cryign: This is the way Also love Kuil rip :pensive: I have spoken Also I love love love the IG droid
Spoiler: Mandalorian AU where the IG survives cause I have an intense soft spot for droids And HEY FA-MI-LY! FA-MI-LY! Please please I want Droid family with Mando dad and the Yoddler and just everybody alive, it's babytime
Anyway I just remembered how sexy droids are heres random YouTube vids Me and my friend were talkin and she called c3po a skittish twink and Oh My God (This video has annoying honking at the end) I also love these droids K2SO, hell yeah Honestly Crack Ship K2SO/C3PO, I can dab to that bro, and there aren't any proper fics abt that :'( so sad Spoiler: Mando Anyone ship Mando/IG11?? Or just idk AU where IG 11 is around to take care of baby... take care of others, let others care for IG11!!! Plus just, I just think its interesting with Mando's understandable hang up with droids, like idk getting to bond, with a droid? Itll be a long and arduous thing but I am into it I want it Idk I fell in love with IG11 in the first ep and he was p much not present until the end but im so sold on IG11 Spoiler: IG11 vids (no good compilations) Has some meh edits at the end
Spoiler: TROS Maybe I'm just not hanging out in the right places, but I'm kind of surprised I haven't seen any memes of that scene with C3p0, Finn and Poe in the speeder in the desert with the "they fly now" exchange except for instead of "they fly now" it's "he fucks now" and they're being chased by Palpatine.
Spoiler: TROS Ultimately, I am loathe to admit that I enjoyed it, though the dashing of previous expectations have set up in me a resentment, so I feel greatly conflicted and up in arms about my enjoyment of TROS. It is a bitter feeling, and I know not what to do with it Things I liked best - C3PO is the Gayest and Sexiest droid. I love droids, I love C3PO, and I'm happy with his screentime - I enjoyed main Trio interactions. It was pretty good. - I believe in FinnPoe. It's pretty good - Kylo Ren basically looked like a shitty wet emo teen the whole movie, like the man's hair didn't get a break, I thought it was very funny - movie had funny jokes - it's dumb that adam driver basically had no lines in the last 30 minutes of the movie, but his last word being Ow is pretty hilarious There are also A lot of things I didn't care for, and things my friends liked that I didn't care for
Spoiler: tros I just saw the new star wars movie finally! Palpatine has really lost his touch huh. like seriously, this is the guy who spent the better part of two decades slowly twisting Anakin into his grip one nudge at a time, and he couldn't even convince two kids who hate him to murder him? other than that, it was about what I expected. some very enjoyable moments, but overall kind of disconnected and hollow-feeling. buuuut the ot3 was good, the reylo was good, the PEW PEW PEW was good. I did like Rey's struggle with the Dark Side. she seems like a grey force user more than anything else - hard to tell if that's where she was at the end of the movie, but throughout it she used Light and Dark equally afaict. it's good! I hope she stays that way, because she's one hundred percent responsible for the Balance now. maybe she'll be the first Force user in hundreds of generations not to fuck it up and skew things all the way to one side. the yellow lightsaber is a good sign, if I remember its meaning right!
Spoiler: Tros rey Tbh id have loved to see more dark side struggle rey, i think its rly interesting and like (grey rey plx) im all about that internal struggle
