why is this a thing. Marvel what the fuck are you doing

 

I mean. Steve Rogers comics also had the DO YOU THINK THE A STANDS FOR FRANCE line, which was then followed up by the writer congratulating himself on that line in the next issue.

And then, years and writers later, Steve Rogers specifically said that it really galls him when people ignore the French Resistance and the bravery they had. So there's precedent for stupid stuff like THIS in comics, and then that getting mocked by later writers.

 

Yeah, a good thing about comics is that there's so much content that the really stupid crap like this can drop off the radar if you wait and everyone can just kinda pretend it didn't happen. Or subsequent writers can drag the bad writing over the coals.

So guess what! In the latest excretion of this rolling dumpster fire, it was revealed that in fact the Nazis were supposed to win WW2, and cap was originally a HYDRA agent, but the allies made the cosmic cube in order to alter reality so that they won. Yep.
