i watched say uncle but i don't really consider it to be Actual Steven Universe Continuity, so i didn't even think of counting it for the powers thing
oh yeah, a lot of people hadn't seen it, i forgot. here's a quote, then: UG: Steven doesn't know how to summon his shield. Mr.G: You don't say? Well that's simple! Steven's powers are maternal, control of his gem is based on emotional clarity. his shield only comes out when he's feeling emotions of- and then pizza steve fucks up his gemsona drawing and cuts him off.

Spoiler i like the thouhh of Rose and Company hitting a kindergarden. i mean, what we've seen of the rebellion, it's two peeps very effectively hitting garden parties and temporarily inconveniencing gems. they didn't shatter anyone, or steal anything, or do anything really besides ruin someone's very lovely day. it's gotta evolve from there to the point where a whole planet gets evacuated and Rose only manages to save a few of her crew. Utterly wrecking a kindergarden would be a step up, good tactics, and also satisfyingly morally grey. alllllso, yunno.
Spoiler give Amy and Jasp something to talk about. lotsa episode titles coming up that suggest Amy's involvement, and if Jasp is a KG gem, and maybe a survivor of an attempt to shut that whole opporation down, then that might force Amy to think about how she feels about the KGs and the CG's thoughts about them. like, imagine Amy finding out that not only was she a "mistake" on the part of Homeworld, but a "mistake" that Rose tried to correct.
I think Amethyst already knows all about how Rose shut down the Kindergarten, I can't imagine how she wouldn't. And where are you getting episode titles that suggest any of that from?

I might skip it in a 'Let's Rewatch the Whole Show Marathon,' but it was super super cute. And it was satisfying to go, 'Ohhh, hey! I remember Rose doing this in 'Story for Steven!' And, seriously? Who the heck is claiming that Lapis is ooc? Would be interested in links (PM, probably?) to tumblr stupidity.
i was thinking more like "My mother figure would not only have rathered that the circumstances that caused my birth had never come to pass, but would absolutely have killed me for being what i am." like, smashing yhe holes before the gems are fully formed. idk, it was a dumb idea, yeh. momswap idea, Jasp is "half-baked". "A real quartz is graceful, compact. But, I mean, that's okay! You're a little clumsy, a little unstable, but you can do almost all the things a normal quaryz cqn do!

I like how Lapis doesn't give Steven an ultimatum or anything. she doesn't try and tell him Peridot isn't a good person or that she isn't even trying and that Steven can't like her if he wants to be Lapis' friend. She just doesn't wanna hang with her and won't accept her (shitty) apologies. lapis who is just super chill with her hate. Jasper comes to he barn and lapis is like "I think you're a terrible person, I hate you, personally, i do not forgive you for how you treated me qnd am not aorry for what i did to you. I get to decide what we watch on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, wrestle a timeslot from Peridot if you wanna. If you eat the rum raisim in the fridge i will dump you off a cliff. see you around, roomie."

apparently that picture has inspired several "Jasper + Rubies mother/daughter relationship headcanon" posts and I cannot be happier about this. (I have found my people)
