......well now. this raises a question i've mused on before: if steven ever has kids, will they be human?
Spoiler tbh when they were too short to ride I was kind of disappointed when they didn't solve it with AMEDOT FUSION :D I was also pleased when Amethyst was able to just let the "intended form" thing slide. Yay, increasing maturity (though not quite there yet as others have observed re: tablet)
yo, I need a new place to watch the show online bc kisscartoon is being a dick about adblock, but turning adblock off on that site gives me noisy ads any suggestions?
daily motion bird mom pearl (puts up new episodes very soon after release) and watchcartoononline (only a few days/weeks after release. good for binge watching/marathoning)
Spoiler: almost didn't post this but hey, this isn't tumblr ...am I the only one who thought that Connie's going to be a very lucky lady in a few more years?
Spoiler I really liked this episode too, but I agree with you that the ending made me very and I think it's perfectly IC for Amethyst to do that but at the same time I really hope the message isn't supposed to be that it's ok to take people's comfort object/accommodations away so they can ~discover what they are really capable of~ like these things are just holding people back. Even if Peridot wasn't so attached to her tech, it's still unacceptable to break someone's stuff "for their own good". also I know we already have an escape from homeworld RP, but the more we learn about homeworld the more I want to set up another gemsona RP. with blackjack and hookers "era 2" gems (aka gems that are disabled/brainweird because they "can't make gems like they used to") being pals. ...there would have to be a reason why they are hanging out and not constantly on missions but eh, we'll workshop that.
Spoiler: end of too short to ride Yeah, i'm kinda eh that the telekinesis passed the "stop taking peridot's accommodations" buck to another episode, but given the tense framing of that scene I'm pretty confident that it is gonna get addressed sometime. I wonder whats up with the suddenly powers thing, too. I assume it was unintended on the part of peridot manufacture given the resource conservation thing...
Spoiler Yeah, that freaked me out big time, but I trust them to address it at some point. The other thing happening there is Peridot's incredibly low self-esteem, as with the "it's all that I am" outburst when Amethyst grabs her tablet. I hope Amethyst understands that it's not okay to take away other people's comfort objects and that Peridot understands that it's assistive technology, not technology she's worthless without.
Spoiler: I'm thinking... that it's possible Homeworld has raised gems like Peridot to believe that they don't have powers in order to keep them compliant and in line. It goes along with her 'I'm worthless without technology' thing - make Peridots feel like they have one use and one use only and never can be anything more. Classic abuse tactic, you know?
Spoiler: ditto Yeah that was my thought as well! Also, for some reason my first thought was when Peri couldn't shapeshift was 'ofc she can't, she's not a Quartz'. Sapphire, Ruby, and Pearl all have no sign of even being able to shift, so I assumed it was a Quartz thing that just Amethyst and Steven could do?? But yeah, naturally small Gems (naturally small gemstones, for that matter, I'm not sure I've ever seen an irl peridot over a few carats?) would be easier to push around and convince that they're not worth anything :/ Also, seconding the idea for a new gemsona thread with brainweird and 'flawed' gems (which is what they'd probably call it, no offence meant)! I... might sit out of it, though. We've all seen what happens when I get overenthusiastic then get my own brainweirds and post-bloackages :/
Spoiler: agreed I was thinking the same thing - keeps them in line with their (first-gen) superiors, too. Plus, "shortages" supply a convenient excuse for constant expansion/warfare. Of course, they could very well be facing actual shortages - strip mining every resource dry doesn't exactly tend to result in long-term wealth. They'd be much better off if they'd stuck around earth a few millennia to take lessons from Genghis Khan. Vassals are the way to go.
Sorry, yeah, that happened! I blame the fact I have streaming hayfever atm and my sinuses are trying to crawl out of my ears :P
Spoiler: spoiler reply to the other spoiler replies that aren't really spoilers Not gonna lie, I actually really hate the idea that "they are just lying to the populace to keep them in line". This post describes it better than I could. If anything, I think it's more like "they expect all gems to fit a certain mold, and when they don't they just assume they are defective and have no powers instead of investigating what other powers they could have." kind of like how people have been treating disability in real life? Except dialed up to 11, because Homeworld is big on conformity and uniformity. edit: pokemon page!
