Spoiler: restaurant wars ahhhhhhh it was so cute. i'm really glad that this run of episodes has been checking in with the residents of beach city because i missed all of them so much!!! also pearl in that waiter costume was A+, kiki & jenny's sibling relationship was the cutest, pizza bagel with cream cheese sounds weirdly amazing, fucking ronaldo and his wheelie shoes omg (i feel kinda bad for him re: jane tho, his hime chan) all the silly anime shots during the restaurant scene, it was so good. just, so good. i love this show guys.
Spoiler "you're so sweet and quirky in a way i can tolerate" ouch oh my god the way the music stops when steven calls over the cue and everyone just turns and looks at him before the jam starts up and ronaldo starts expositing again nooooo jane the cute anime girl, her broken heart, noooo :( steven's elaborate plans for fixing shit made things worse omg they're pulling out anime expressions ronaldo crying fryman's shock and steven's smug amusement "no more cooking out of hate and spite! let's just do what we do best!" but i'm legit bummed that jane and ronaldo got hurt by all this :(

Spoiler: restaurant wars i wasn't really fond of this ep and honestly, i didn't expect to be. i have a Thing about food, and the episodes about the more normal parts of steven's life have never been that interesting to me. and ronaldo/jane was just heartbreaking.
Spoiler I wonder if Steven meddling in other people's romantic relationships - whether it be to 'help' or for over-elaborate schemes like this one - is going to be a Thing until he messes up enough to require an important life lesson. Poor Ronaldo. :(
I am really fearing that might be the case, Mercury. And that will be a VERY ROUGH episode for me to watch. Because wow did I fuck up in that regard. Hard.
Spoiler: restaurant wars STEVEN'S 'KEH' AND SMIRK OH MY GOD THE ANIME SEQUENCE I liked this episode, a bit more 'Steven is a little kid and still not great at problem solving all the time even if he is the hero'. I feel really bad for Ronaldo and Jane, like - Ronaldo didn't want to pretend in the first place but he got dragged into it and then Jane got hurt seeing it happen it's all really sad! Also I love the relationship between the sisters, a+ happy family antics. And I really fucking loved 'we on break', Amethyst is so good.
@Mercury God, I hope that episode comes soon because his demanding that Romantic Love Is Always The Answer just makes me cringe down to my soul.
I can't believe Spoiler Ronaldo had a girlfriend the kids were super cute in this episode. I think my favorite joke was Onion "forming a line". I remember them saying once "There's no such thing as a filler episode of Steven Universe". Imagine if this episode ended up perfectly paralleling gem military history or how the conflict between Earth and Homeworld will be resolved.
That episode was adorable, if a little. Embarassing. At times. I think the "there's no filler" is more about how the conflict with Homeworld and learning about the past aren't the story, they're part of it. The show is about Steven growing up and learning about the world and what it means to be him, and sometimes thats gonna be tense ticking cluster bombs and sometimes it'll be learning more about the gems or bringing gens to his side and sometimes it'll be "Steven fucks around in Beach City"
Yeah I know, I just think that would be hilarious in hindsight, like how Ronaldo correctly predicted the Diamond Authority and how they were going to hollow out the Earth.
Pretty big filler ep IMO, but it was cute and funny so I'm not complaining. Poor Ronaldo and Jane. :( (also ngl i ship kofi and fryman now OOPS)
Spoiler: Actually, going into more detail Really, I think he's already past "requires an important life lesson". He's hurt Sadie and Lars, he's hurt Ronaldo, and the thing with him hosing down poor Lapis with Mandatory Forgiveness And Being BFFs Now wasn't exactly the same thing but definitely comes from a similar place. I just wonder when he's going to mess up enough to learn that lesson.
